Just happened to turn on wcco and sid and chad are having a conversation about Coach Kill. Chad actually said Coach did a great job at the press conference. Sid however is still talking about chryst. Loved his comment "I didn't know that Minnesota fans hated wisconsin so much. I thought they only hated iowa."

Sid, any maroon blooded gopher fan hates sconnie and hopes they lose every game they play in.

Yeah, I mean...why would we hate the team against which we hold the most-played major college football rivalry? I agree with Sid.

There was a time when they played for the axe but there was really nothing to the rivalry. That was as recent as the '80s and early '90s, if we're honest with ourselves.

Minnesota's hatred for Becky Badger is a relatively recent phenomena. It didn't really exist at all until the mid-90's. So not too recent. But in terms of Sid Hartman's career, it must have only seemed like a few day.

However, Wisconsin has hated Minnesota pretty much forever.

In Sid's defense, the welcoming of Sir Brett with such open arms certainly leaves Minnesota's hatred of Wisconsin up to debate. I still get mild nausea each Sunday but clearly I'm in the minority.

Under different circumstances I think people people might have been OK with hiring a Wisconsin coordinator. (I wouldn't) But the cronyism/nepotism/whatever the correct term is as decided by this boards grammar police, that would have existed with this hire as made by Maturi would have made it unacceptable to most people. Add in the fact that there seemed to be red flags about his coaching ability (doesn't like recruiting, etc.) and it would have gone over like a lead balloon.

Cmon man, Maturi has no problem with nepotism, example A would be the next million dollar lawsuit our athletic department will be paying for with the golf team fiasco.
But your right, I absolutely would have slayed Maturi for hiring a wisky punk like Chryst.

This morning he said that if Decker and Triplett didn't get hurt, Childress would still be coaching the Gophers. WOW!

Sid is still wondering why we stopped playing Grinnell.

Strange, coming from a guy who attended the first MN-WI game.

Speak for yourself. I have been hating Wisconsin since I started following Gopher (and Viking) football as a child in the early '80's.

You, my friend Stan the Caddy, are a pup. I have hated Wisky AND Iowa since the 50's. :cool02: :pig: :drink: :drink: :drink:

Welcome to Football History 100.

Ask Bobby Bell, Murray warmath and the officials door at Camp Randall about the love!!!

My memory goes back to the early 70s, and I can't remember a time when all things Madison were not deplored.

Put down the glue...

You've had enough. J/K. You are wrong sir. Hated of Wisconsin is natural and total in large parts of this state. Iowa had always been runner up for many, many people. Hockey tends to be as important to many of those people as well.
