***OFFICIAL UW-GB VS MINNESOTA FIRST ROUND NCAA TOURNAMENT GAME IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

That surprises me. I saw only the fourth quarter of Miss game but they appear to have the make of the kind of team that gives us fits.
Exactly, they forced 21 TO’s and are very quick to the basket. The Gophers will have 2 keep their TO’s closer to 10 and shoot a high
% of their 3’s/ FG’s.

Will be interesting to see if/how the line moves.

The goal of the line is to get as close to 50% bet on both teams, so the house doesn’t lose its 👔

Tonga’s injury looks like it is bothering, she seems a little slower and doesn’t want to move too much. Both Christian and Bershers played ok, I thought Bershers looked a little better, hope they are both ready to go on Sunday.

Between waiting to get out of the 4th Street ramp and stopping for a meal we didn't get home until 10:00... then I started to read forum posts... glad I didn't read them during the game. I would to express my thoughts as a story. The story goes as such:

I went to bed and fell asleep, but had a nightmare which I will call 'The Nightmare on Oak St.' I am at Williams watching the game and reading the forum posts. I begin to panic because I think the sky is falling and the Williams roof is beginning to collapse. I try to escape, but the exits are 'choked' with fleeing recruits, portal candidates, and disgruntled fans. I "woke up with start", got up went to the bathroom and got a drink of water... realizing that we had won the game and it was just a bad dream. I went back to bed and dreamed about the 4th quarter.

I believe what recruits, potential recruits and portal prospects witnessed was a team that 'found a way' and was led by a player I will comment about in another post.

I will be dreaming about that 4th quarter for a long time. Great time to play perfect basketball. We imposed our will on UWGB and ran them off the court in the 4th quarter. I watched the UWGB press conference. Guyer was very classy and handled a very tough "what happened in the 4th quarter" ? with dignity and tried her best to explain that things snowballed on them.

I was thinking of the game this morning and the Wizard of Oz came to mind. Dorothy encounters the Tin Man frozen in place from rust. He helps her locate an oil can and with Scarecrow's help loosens his joints.

An analogy... I believe that Tori (Dorothy) has the oil can and Amaya Battle is the Scarecrow and between the two they loosen-up the team from the accumulated rust from so much time between games.

Amaya referred to Tori as the 'motor'. I may think of team as the motor. A motor will begin to 'seize-up' without oil... Tori is that oil.

As an aside, an oil can from the movie sold for $250,000 in 2022. If Tori 'the oil can' was swept up by a tornado and instead of Oz was transported to the Land of the Portal... what price would be paid?

Were U @ the game ? GB got almost every 50/50 call until the 3rd quarter. The awful officiating put McKinney on the bench n we all see what happens to the flow of our offense when she’s not in the game. The refs might have called a few make up calls, which I hate, but overall they did not help the Gophers win. We shot 35% to their 55% in the 1st half and by the end of the game both teams were around 45%. Go Gophers !!
I was at the game. The referees were one-sided in the fourth (IMO), as they tend to be in the NCAA tourney. There is no MONEY in having Green Bay win. The NCAA is a business and having the next game with Minnesota playing will bring the CASH. The barn would be empty with a Green Bay vs. Ole Miss game.

Did you buy all sessions ticket? If so, why? Did you buy Round 1 only? If so, why? If Round One is predetermined buy Round 2 only... don't support NCAA by buying Round 1 tickets... my opinion.

It took me most of the night to wind down from that game. It was an amazing environment. I was so happy for the players. Especially the ones who have been here for years putting in the work to make last night possible. They were two very good teams giving each other fits. I hope that 4th quarter ends up on YouTube so every Gopher fan can have a feel good hit when we need one. I think I noticed Braun with some tears walking off the court. I think that was a special night for everyone who follows this program.

Green Bay was great. I hated seeing them pop up as our first round opponent because I’ve watched enough of them over the years to know they’re capable of what they showed those first three quarters.

Hart’s last name is so appropriate. She plays with so much heart and I’ve become such a big fan. 19 monster points when Green Bay kept throwing post players at her.

I enjoyed this morning’s Strib article on Battle working to keep the team loose and having fun. The success of her 3 point shot and fight all night… We needed all of it.

Grace’s shot might not have been falling but she was still that glue. Tied leading in rebounds, including some very timely and important ones. Some good assists. She’s so steady.

And we knew this, and all the stats confirm it, but Tori is a game changer. She can do anything her team needs when they need it. She’s a joy to watch play. I think my section was ready to storm the floor at some of those phantom foul calls that kept her out much of the game. Her 4th quarter was excellent.

Braun played with a fire I could feel from my seat. She’s so fun to watch. The timing on some of those threes were like they came from a good spotted movie script. I love her passion. There was a fun block in there too.

The bench gave meaningful minutes. Glynn contributed when needed during the Tori foul troubles.

Tonga was doing her best but also frustrated with many quick fouls. I hope she’s not in pain from whatever led to the boot, and hope we get to see her do what we’ve seen her do all season on Sunday.

Zoey and Makena were ready and contributed when called. I hope last night left them hungry to keep this going their next three seasons. Everyone else on the bench was invested and hyped, and ready to contribute however they could.

It was a special and memorable night at The Barn. Congratulations to all involved. Thanks team for a great night!

Creating memories

Braun was still crying in the locker room after the game. She’s been a warrior coming back from 2 season ending injuries. So happy for her and the entire team for “ finding a way “ to win. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s game. Go Gophers !!
