***OFFICIAL USC (MUSSELMAN BACK IN THE BARN) AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I think if Tyson makes a clean initial catch he would have been able to maneuver for a good shot or a foul. It just didn't happen. He missed one of those at the end of regulation as well.
Tyson was tired. His legs were not what they needed to be. It is the problem with a short bench combined with overtime.

Omot aint coming back at this stage......we ride with the 7 we have! I'm liking groves effort in these games. He isn't the most skilled but he's got some mad dog in him!
Coaches can work on honing the skill. Effort is all on the player, and Groves is an overclocked CPU out there. Keep him cool and he'll bust some ass.

The Good: The team played really hard against a really bad matchup for us. They have so much size and that old guy caught fire early. Tough game but it was fun.

The Bad: Bad officiating and that old guy was incredibly unlikeable. I spent way too much of a Friday waiting for him to get off the ground.

If it were that simple someone would have done it already. USC is pretty athletic.
I didn't say it was simple. I said they showed it can be done. That's why I asked the question that I did.

It's a frustrating loss with the bias seen in the officials, and a whiny but athletic USC team. However I can't help but feel excited about the program. I loved the fight our guys showed. The composure to move on to the next play after a bad call. Not once did any of our guys excessively whine about bad calls. Can't wait to see Niko field a healthy team with a full offseason. I'm also hopeful that the culture he is building will result in less transfers. #TeamTogether

Not losing by 50, that’s a humiliation, but there’s truth that losing squeakers stick with you worse than losing decisively. When I was in school we played at Wisconsin (Clem v Yoder), we got the way the hell down even though Bucky wasn’t on our level, came all the way back only to lose on a BLOB alley-oop at the buzzer. If we had continued on going down quietly, I’da been pissed, but the way we lost made me 1000x more miserable. Not to mention, if we wind up barely missing the dance, we’re gonna lament this game way more than the L’s that weren’t almost W’s.

It won't help anything, but the officials in that game should be sanctioned by the league. They were awful- really one of the worst I have seen. In this game, it actually had a big impact on the game since all of the bad calls went against us. That should be a W and it would have been a win that put us at least in conversation for the tournament.

At home against a non blue blood team no less. A bunch of calls that absolutely would not happen at East Lansing or West Layfayette

Glad Muss isn't our coach. He's a tool, and I see he has douchey son with him on the bench

Team is so easy to root for and get behind. Playing seven guys is going to hurt all season long. Hope people continue to attend games and support this squad.
Good turnout last night. Student section was disappointing but that probably had a lot do with them still being on break.

Shame that the officiating played such a big role in the outcome, those guys were just epically bad and unfortunately most of their mistakes ended up favoring USC. Niko showed a ton of restraint not to get a technical.

Is definitely a fun to team to root for but lack of depth and size is definitely going to be a struggle in conference games. I still wonder why Reynolds refused to take the unguarded 3 last night, never really seen a defensive strategy quite that egregious where their big guy was just completely camped out under the basket and unfortunately we never did anything to get them out of it because Reynolds refused to shoot.

Neither Reynolds nor Grove can consistently make 3 point attempts. Musselman knew this and left them uncontested while making it hard for our shooters to get open looks. Being undersized and not having 5 good shooters on the floor makes it difficult. If only...

As always, great effort from our guys.

But watching that shitshow of garbage usc is, I am extremely happy the U didn't hire that whiny cunt and the same crying from his players. What an embarrassing display of duke wannabe pussies.
A little Eric goes a looooonnggg way

If we barely miss the dance we will be lamenting our NC schedule performance more than anything.

But if we barely miss the dance that is a major success anyway.

Looks like Niko bypassed Musselman in the handshake line, good. Musselman did some stupid celebration dance at the end. Jackass.
I guess the team should take it as a compliment that USC was acting like they just beat a top team.

Musselman’s “connection” to the Gophers was very much overplayed. He said himself he never set foot in Williams Arena when he was with the Wolves which shows how little he cared about the program.

Sorry ass Coyle wont do anything, a more connected AD would be contacting the league office.

What the hell dude. Ridiculous statement. Whether you win or lose by large or small margin. They all count. Niko has something going here, if we make the tournament, any tournament, it’s a huge move forward . Go watch some other shit and stay outa the chat.
They re a troll

Put them on ignore, or do not respond to their posts…that gives them the air they need to breathe.

Very fun game to attend. Crowd was great but need more butts in seats folks...$30 gets you in the door. They all play smart, tough, athletic defense which doesn't really fully come through watching on TV. Very active looking for steals as well...they probably could have had 5-6 more. Asuma is the straw that sits the drink. Durkin is a baby faced stone cold 3-point sniper.

When they got down 12 I was a little worried and then they created opportunities with their D and hustle.

Finally, yes the refs were not good. Niko was livid after one call (a clear travel) where the ball handler lost control of it and Gophs converged on him). I thought the bald ref was going to give him a technical. All this while Eric was wandering outside his area and going on the court.

In a year of two when he has more stature as a Big Ten coach, Niko will step calmly onto to the court (drawing his technical) and tell the officials: 1) You need to address the behavior of the other coach; and 2) You need to enforce the rules by calling fouls on #6 who is holding my best player on every cut. That’s not basketball and you need to respond.

Tough loss, we have depth we win that one. Can't lie the Musselman post game was both aggravating and amazing at the same time. Very cool to see him so excited to get a win where his dad was HC.
