***OFFICIAL USC (MUSSELMAN BACK IN THE BARN) AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Gophers aren’t ready for prime time yet! Don’t want the national attention-as I said give me a winning record/could care less about making post season tournaments

If the Gophers have a winning record, they would at least be invited to the College Basketball Crown and I don't know why they would decline.

Tough loss in a tough stretch of basketball to play with 7 players and yet still battled hard through all the adversity in this game to have a chance. Would have like to see the last shot be drawn up different as you could tell Tyson was battling those shots all game long. Not much time to rest before we get Wisconsin in the barn.

Someday hopefully Niko will get more of the Musselman factor on the calls.

1) NCAA needs to adjust the appeals that if a team appeals out of bound touch but then in that replay determines there was a foul, they should be able to issue the foul Only reason out of bounds on Crocker-Johnson was a clear foul on the arm.

2) Also like to see when too refs make different calls, they go review. That last foul on Asuma to foul out when 1 ref closest issues jump ball stung.

Still lot more fun basketball to watch than previous years. Be nice to get 1more guy to be able to be in the rotation. Seems like others have added in mid-season?

An excellent effort from our less athletic and undermanned Gophers against a more athletic and less well coached Trojan squad.
Our boys will lose games because they can't compete athletically, but they are well coached and give their all on the court. I am proud to support this year's team. These kids will keep most games close and win more games than I expected.

Hate losing games in this manner-can’t lose at home!!! As long as we have winning record-could care less if we don’t make post season tournaments

What the hell dude. Ridiculous statement. Whether you win or lose by large or small margin. They all count. Niko has something going here, if we make the tournament, any tournament, it’s a huge move forward . Go watch some other shit and stay outa the chat.

They're not adding anyone at this point. Unless Omot comes back the only realistic option to add to the rotation is Turner and Niko seems unwilling to do it.

Just hate seeing gophers have crushing loss like this!!! We needed the win in worst way possible. 😢😞
This wasn't a crushing loss. What we witnessed tonight are the roster flaws that we've been talking about for a while now - lack of depth further magnified by foul trouble.

We gave good effort and played hard on both sides of the ball. We just didn't make enough shots. The refs didn't help and were hot garbage. They played a role in the final outcome IMO.

The defensive scheme employed by Muss did a very good job of shutting down our back cuts and dives to the basket. Kudos to them. My concern is will this create the template for other teams to utilize against us defensively?

He’s a troll. Ignore him.

Just back from the game. Niko is a better coach than Musselman. I say that as one who wanted us to hire Mussy bad a few years back. Musselman made some good moves on defense - not guarding Reynolds at the 3 point line, etc. But he had far the better athletes and he slowed them down and coached scared the last 5 minutes of regulation and even in OT. He was just plain lucky to win a game where the officials gave him every single close call and totally blew a few others. The foul on Asuma was a clean tied ball and then Mazura fell before being contacted in the last minute of OT.

So glad we got Niko. Once again this was a masterpiece in coaching for the most part. USC has a lot of talent.

I think if Tyson makes a clean initial catch he would have been able to maneuver for a good shot or a foul. It just didn't happen. He missed one of those at the end of regulation as well.

I literally could not tell. Did Reynolds trip him?
I was at the game so only saw the one replay, but it looked as if he went down with very minimal contact. I couldn’t see a trip.
Always a tough loss by 1; particularly when we were 60% at the line. On to better things against the skunks.

Double.dribble not called. Jump ball called a foul. Laughable acting careening to the ground called.

I thought going in to the basket was being shut down. Have to design a kick out. Except I can see where they couldn't settle for a longer shot they were not making, exhausted.

The officiating was inexcusable on those calls and that baby coach yapping his mouth with outrage constantly at everything to the refs.

That stung because Gophers had tons of crap thrown on them and still nearly won.

Only thing I don't get is that Langston Reynolds shot 18-49 from three-point range last year at Northern Colorado. That is 41%. Why on earth isn't he shooting WIDE open threes?

He was 1-4 tonight. If he shoots two more and makes one or two of them, it might win us the game.

If he can somehow go 2-6 or 3-7, it changes entirely how they defend us and opens the cutting lanes back up. They three-point looks were WIDE OPEN.

I'm stunned they aren't telling him to shoot it. Make them play you honestly.

If teams do defend us like that in the future, let Langston shoot it from there.

Just home.....great fight by the team to come back from a big deficit and battle through some just horrendous officiating.

I am so glad we don't have anyone on our team that acts like #4 for USC, the flopping on every single play and constant complaining was ridiculous. He hit some circus shots but he seems like an absolute pain in the ass in nearly every way.

Opportunities were there in spite of all the things that went against us. One major frustration I had was Reynolds unwillingness to take the wide open shot. Might not be his strength but holy crap, if they aren't going to guard you at all you have to make them pay for it. Drive in a few steps and take a midrange shot if you don't want to take a 3 but do something.

Bummer of a loss but I am glad we don't play the game like USC. Refs were a complete joke tonight. Not saying the fix was in or anything but holy crap they made and missed a ton of calls tonight.....just awful.

I did not understand that either. I mean I get it when it was Groves being left alone but Reynolds has to take that shot. Make a couple and USC has to completely change their defense.
