Really hoping that Oregon pulls out the win for tournament seeding purposes.
I might be wrong....but I'm not sure that the NIT takes power conference teams any longer. Outside chance of getting into the Crown tournament depending on how many Big Ten teams make the NCAA Tournament.

I am thrilled to see these guys leave Williams Arena with a win. It was fitting that they almost lost, yet found a way to win. I also loved the interview with Langston Reynolds after the game. He said he was very happy to have come to Minnesota and be a Gopher. Any recruits who sees that interview should be hoping Niko picks them to play here with Niko as their coach.
Last year they had 4 power conference teams out of 32. 3 ACC and one Big 12
No B1G teams last year. Pretty much traded it for The Crown.

Crazy finish in Eugene. Ducks blow a 21-point lead, get it back on a 4-point play with 11 seconds left, then salt it away when Sprinkle is ejected and they hit 4 FTs. Looks like we’re the 11 seed in the tournament!
Looks like (14) Rutgers vs. (11) Minnesota next Wednesday night.

Winner plays UCLA. UCLA and Purdue tied for the 6 seed but UCLA takes the tiebreaker.
I think Rutgers has to win tomorrow or we get Northwestern again.
The AP AI written article says it’s Rutgers. Computer can’t be wrong.
Rutgers holds the tiebreakers over Northwestern, Maryland and Oregon.
Rutgers has secured the 14-seed, Minnesota has secured the 11-seed.
They will play next Wednesday night.
Winner gets 6-seed UCLA on Thursday.
So, we are the 11 seed in the Big Ten. That is impossible to do with the 6 guys we have playing in games but we did it.
So, if we could beat Rutgers and UCLA...two wins in the tournament...any chance we could sneak into the NCAA Tournament? We are 3 and 4 versus ranked teams...you gotta climb the standings up towards the top to find comparable records to ours.

Eight wins in the Big Ten is incredible given the injury situation.
But, the Gophers will need to win the Big Ten Tournament to get to the NCAA Tournament.
Wins over Rutgers and UCLA followed by a Friday loss would put Minnesota at 17-17 on the season and would help their case for a Crown bid, but not nearly enough to get an at-large NCAA bid. Even if they win four games to get to the Big Ten Championship game and lose that, they'd be 19-17. That probably doesn't do it, but it would be fun to watch them make an unlikely run to the finals.

And if Michigan beats Michigan State and Nebraska beats Iowa, the Spartans would be the 3 seed. If that happens, our path to the B1G Tournament semifinals would be to play 3 teams we have already beaten.
AWESOME to have our best coach since Clem!!!! To win 8 games in his first year with what he has to play with for the better part of 1/2 the season is pretty freakin good.

Would make for a heck of a story if we make a run but my guess is playing on consecutive nights will be where the lack of depth finally catches up with us unfortunately.

At least you don't have to wait for a previous event to finish before watching a game on Peacock. Also Peacock has a lot more programming besides sports.

Not quite. Big Ten, Big 12, and Big East teams can't accept NIT bids if they are offered Crown bids. There will be only half as many Crown bids as last year and it looks the numbers are set (according to info given by TV announcers): 2 bids to each of the conferences above and two at large bids outside those conferences.
The NIT had 4 Power Conference teams last season. 3 were from the ACC and Big 12 Oklahoma State who must not have received a Crown bid. More than a few power conference teams declined bids.

Two things make me feel good about playing Rutgers in the opening game:
1) We beat them soundly in our one meeting; and
2) Rutgers getting 6 conference wins likely was helped by the luck of the draw. They had 6 games with the 4 teams finishing below them in the standings. They won them all but didn't beat any conference team finishing above them.

Hasn't been a problem for me on any of the BTN or FS1 games, able to go to the App for the start of the games.
Very little of it interests me or I have already seen. Commercials are also quite a hassle and unavoidable.

I'm not paying for Peacock, directly. I have access to it but it sucks.
It's in game presentations are lousy like watching cable access, fewer camera angles and weak On Air talent for the Big 10 Regular Season games I have watched.
Having to endure TV commercial breaks for sporting events for the first time since the Bush II Administration really sucks.
Plus it posted over Half a Billion loss in 4th Quarter.

Crown can give at-large berths to Big Ten team, if it wants to.
Last year with 16 teams invited, and several Big Ten teams declining invites, there were no Big Ten teams left for the NIT. Not sure what will happen to the viable Big Ten teams left out the Crown this year (because there will be some). They could get invited to the 32-team NIT.
Right now, if Indiana makes the NCAA (big if), the top two BIG TEN teams remaining would come down to (with games remaining to be played this week):
Washington (#61 NET)
Northwestern (#70 NET)
Minnesota (#73 NET)
USC (#76 NET)
If Indiana doesn't make the NCAA, then it becomes nearly impossible to get an automatic bid for Minnesota to the Crown. Would probably need a wild card and not sure we'd get it.
Gophers would be advised to beat Rutgers for sure and cheer like heck for PSU to soundly beat Northwestern on Tuesday.
As for other likely automatics bids -
BIG EAST:
Seton Hall (#57 NET)
Creighton (#81 NET)
BIG 12:
Cincinnati (#45 NET)
Baylor (#49 NET)
Possible wild-cards/at-large:
UCF (#51 NET)
West Virginia (#58 NET)
Arizona State (#67 NET)
MOUNTAIN WEST (has a TV deal with FOX, but no guaranteed spots in Crown):
New Mexico (#45 NET)
San Diego State (#47 NET)
Boise State (#56 NET)
That could easily leave some combo of Minnesota, USC, Northwestern with a possible NIT bid, if they choose to take it.
Greder reported Minnesota seemed good with a Crown bid, much less committed to an NIT invite.
Health of players, etc. could play a role. Crown is three weeks away, so maybe Crocker-Johnson is healthy by then, Durkin and Grove heal up??
