***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS SAN FRANCISCO IN SOUTH DAKOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

And to think, nobody here would've ever believed this year would be worse than the last four (4), but it sure appears to be.

I'm hard pressed to remember a time when the Gopher sports programs as a whole have been collectively this bad.
Gopher Hockey looked great last night. Hoping they keep it rolling against PSU tonight.

We can’t possibly lose all 3 today! Right!?

It's often hard to tell around here whether someone's primary purpose in defending a player to another poster is to defend the player or attack the poster.

I think it's fair to say that Asuma to this point of his career has been kind of underwhelming considering the hype that accompanied his commitment. He certainly has plenty of time to show more.

I do think this San Francisco team has a better chance to make the tournament than the one a couple years ago that blew us out that didn't come particularly close. If we hadn't looked like shit against Green Bay and Chicago State I wouldn't be too concerned, but we did.

Three (3)? The Gopher Women's hockey team was also routed by the college hockey powerhouse known as Mankato State.

Good times at the U.

The guy that is frustating is Grove. He has not shown one post move ever. Don't they work on that daily. I don't get it.

That San Francisco team was 23-11. They didn't make the NCAA tournament because they only took 2 teams from that conference (St. Mary's (the conf champ) and Gonzaga (the runner up)).

Yeah, I know. I'm saying I think this team is better than that one was. I also think this years WCC is a lot better than the league was 2 seasons ago. Should be a fun league to monitor.

The kids just have to keep chucking it up to the basket. The offense is getting good looks. Kids just need to finish. Also, make your damn freethrows! Even in that, the kids need to trust the reps and stop being so cerebral. It's just basketball.
Niko, get a shrink to help these kids have fun.

A clear-eyed assessment. The analytics are not good, and weren't good last year either. someone said it before - if he were from Cherry, Illinois, people would be much more critical. He is well below average for a B10 scoring PG, currently 13th of the 15 (he'd be dead last as a "pure PG" and 18th of 24 as a "combo G").

But, it is early in the season, and his career.

As for Reynolds - they needed him today and his 7-9 from the field. He also was 1-7 from the stripe and had 5 TOs - these kinda cancel each other out a bit, but no one else was stepping up.

Agree with you but, the fact he is getting minutes is part of the problem. Vaihola is a big part of our team. He does a bunch of non box score things. He is our enforcer, his big body sets screens for Tyson to get shots off and seals the route for guys to drive uncontested to the rim..

I only follow Gopher football and basketball but, in the 2015-2016 year, the football team finished the regular season with 5 wins and the basketball team won 8 games in total.

This team is not as bad as Ben's year 1 or year 2. It's not particularly close. And it might be better than year 4 too.

This team has to have more from it's two starting guards. It's pretty much that simple. If they can step up they can be in most B1G games. If they can't it will be a struggle to get 60 all year.

What's discouraging is normally you would say, "Well, the coach needs a chance to get his guys in there." That is still true but with the crazy transfer game, a coach can largely shape a team in year 1. What we are seeing is very disheartening.

The incompetence of this program all just seems to blend together since Clem got booted. Thank goodness the Gophers have other good programs to pay more attention to while we wait to reach mediocrity.

Wait.

I think the chess team has a chance to be good but they need a few more NIL dollars.

MN missed 15 FTs and USF made 11 3PFGs. Gophers missed 5-6 bunnies, and didn’t have Vaihola. Turner looked gassed after 4 min. We certainly don’t need to limp into Big Ten play with short bench, undersized team unable to shoot FTs. What’s Omot’s timetable? Stephens looks like never but I hope he’s ok.
