***OFFICIAL*** Minnesota Vs. Nebraska (GAME THREAD)

wooooooow. what a bunch of bull *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#. they never went past the first down marker, yet they get the first down. what bull *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#.

OK, I've now officially seen EVERYTHING there is to see. HOW THE *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# CAN THAT POSSIBLY BE A RULE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

That has got to be the STUPIDEST rule that ever existed in all of sports.

Don't claim any understanding of the call, but a backwards pass, if missed is considered a fumble. Otherwise, I don't even want to know if anything else can go against the FB team this year...

I don't blame the players if they give up after that. This is bull$hit. Team is cursed. I'm soccer hooligan mad at the refs right now. RAGE

i honestly don't even see a backward pass. it was a flippin lateral!

Quite possibly the stupidest ruling on a play that I have ever seen in all my years of watching football.

If it worked against any other team, there would be a rule change tomorrow. But it is against lowly U of M, so no one will give a crap.

Did a Gopher just tackle the Gopher kick returner?

First stop was an offsides...NO EXCUSE...second stop was a backward pass bobbled forward out of bounds for a first down...NO EXPLANATION.

Backward pass and a lateral are the same thing. And did we just tackle our guy on the kick return...unreal.

Same thing, NoDak.

The point is, even the fukking rule book is against us.

Ugghh! The play calling is killing me. Run up the middle. Run up the middle. Pass over receiver's head. Punt.

Oh, correction. We just got a first down running up the middle. I'll be quiet now.

Regarding the "fumble/lateral/backward pass" - I have a coworker that's a college referee. I'll have to get his interpretation of it.

If that's the rule, it's the most ridiculous rule in college football. Anytime you have 4th and 1 just throw a backward pass toward the sideline and have the receiver swat it ahead and out of bounds.

I've noticed that for a running QB Gray is not that fast compared to others...

Yes, but I'm pretty sure it is a well known fact that dropped laterals are fumbles, and when you fumble the ball and it goes forward and out of bounds the ball is usually returned to the spot where it was fumbled. Apparently they found something in the rule book just to go against us.

Officially the unluckiest team in college football.

Gray is a terrible QB. He just is. He can't throw the ball. He just stands there until the rush gets to him and then tries to run or throws an inaccurate pass.

I thought the rule was if the ball is fumbled forward out of bounds, it goes back to the spot of the fumble

Completely agree.. and also confused how that particular play was deemed a "pass" as it looked just like a pitch on an option play. Which would be a lateral, not a pass...

They explained the rule. Within the redzone, I think thats what they said, the offense gets it where it goes out of bounds.

......and if it was a pass, wouldn't it need to be completed?

New gopher offense. Backwards pass from Gray and bennett can pooch kick the ball forward and angle it out of bounds. What a horse*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# rule!

How did they not tackle him?

Yeah, that makes so much more sense now.

Not. I smell even bigger bull*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#.

That was absolutely amazing that they scored on that! Bad angles/tackling much?
So much for getting out of a wedding to watch the game...I thought I had a chance to convince my wife that I couldn't miss a chance for an upset since I missed the Iowa game last year. Drats!
