***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT wisconsin IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

There's nothing to figure out. They have no depth or size. Those can't be fixed with schemes.
Exactly. Max f**** Gizzi played in this game.

Let’s take the lumps this year. Depth won’t be an issue next. Grove getting this experience, Bobby figuring it out, even Kai getting under the skin of super seniors…We will have a squad next year.

F that hurts. However, two hard fought games against Wisky that they had no business being in from the tip. Give Niko some healthy players and/or time to recruit some dudes, and they look like they could be legit.

It sucks we are short handed but man how can they let all of these slip. Why were there zero plays to get Durkin looks in the second half? He was the hot hand. That's where I want to see Niko show his chops. When teams take away what worked early you have to adjust. If Asuma didn't get hot it would have been worse.
I think Nikos offense is really easy to guard right now because too many players aren’t a threat to make a three.

Gotta give the Badgers some credit for the job the did on Durkin in the second half. They knew he was one of our only guys that could really hurt them and they made it really tough to get him to get a good look.

Problem for a guy like Durkin is that he can't create his own shot so he can be taken away if a team puts enough emphasis on it.

You can't blame the scheme for lack of shooters. You can look at 5 players not suiting up due to injuries as a major factor.

They ran Durkin off so many screens. Credit to Wisconsin on the defense. Also helps that you can hard hedge the screens when Reynolds and Grove are not threats to shoot (they bring good things elsewhere)

Totally agree on Durkin not creating his own shot but that's why you need some movement, screens, something. They definitely took away kick outs on drives.

Agree, come out 2nd half like the 1st half and don't let them slowly get back into the game
lol....yep...it is just that easy. Sconnie was going to make a run, they shot incredibly poorly in the first half and they easily had the two best players on the court in Blackwell and Boyd.

"depth won't be an issue next year"

Man if I had a nickel every time i heard that one the past 4.5 years.

We have GOT TO stop giving these games up in the second half. Truly a habit.
What happened in the second half was most likely what should have happened in the first half. The fact that Wisconsin came back is not the shocking part of this game the shocking part was that we somehow got up by as much as we did in the first half.

Without Tyson this game had no business being close but the guys played their asses off and made it a battle.

We had really sloppy turnovers on slow sloppy passes to start the 2nd half and those allowed Wisconsin to get back into the game. First 5-10 minutes, of 2nd half sure felt like no one wanted to shoot the basketball. Usually everyone is shooting away.

This team is 10-11, 3-7. With anything close to a healthy roster they'd be 14-7, 6-4 and a bubble team. Very frustrating.

Reynolds had a brutal stretch at the start of the second half. Unfortunately he is prone to those at times. But the biggest difference in the second half is that Wisconsin started hitting their shots after being ice cold in the first half.

JCJ and Asuma 4-17 from 3PT line tonight. Ouch! Love Asuma, but he needs to learn how to shoot consistently. You got 2 G out there Reynolds shooting 19% on year from 3PT and Asuma at 30%.

That’s literally what I’m saying. Look at the comment I’m responding too.

Or that we didn't score 1 basketball for over 5 minutes I believe in the 2nd half. Like said before, didn't even seem like we wanted to shoot the ball.

Rough night for JCJ, not sure if it was just a bad matchup for him or if he is dealing with something else (illness, injury).

As for Asuma....his shot definitely isn't where it needs to be but love that he is aggressive and is a willing shooter. That will bode well for him as he continues to develop.

I knew that the wheels would eventually fall off when we got to the end of the first half. Despite the big lead. But that doesn’t make it any less frustrating to have seen the wheels go rolling down the hill without the bus, and down to the canyon floor.
