***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT RUTGERS IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

As someone who doesn’t pay any attention to basketball that isn’t Gophers or March Madness…how the hell does Rutgers have a losing record??? I just saw they have two projected top 5 picks on their roster. That’s crazy. Yeah I understand they are freshmen and all that. Just wild.

Their draft picks are both freshmen and one of them was injured for a pretty good piece of the season. Talent upgrade. Experience downgrade. Aren’t playing the defense we’re used to seeing. If they’re on, they are hard to beat. If they are not, they can be bad. I’m hoping they are bad today.

Very top-heavy roster, talent-wise. Plus Harper and Bailey have had a couple injuries.

I’ve never rooted against the Gophers. But this year I can’t get worked up about them win or lose. Nice if they win, but meh if they don’t. Just another nail in Johnson’s coffin (which should have been in the ground long ago).

So we should be rooting for Rutgers?
Well...I can't actively root against the Gophers, but it appears we are locked into the 11v 14 game no matter what. Win 11 lose 14. So if it's the same outcome, but a loss helps an awful coach out the door....

Is the opponent the same? That might make the games different by roughly 50%

The decision on BJ isn't going to be made based on a win or a loss today. The decision has already been made, we'll just find out what it is when the season ends.

I think I covered all scenarios,,,

Iowa, Rutgers win today: #11 Rutgers, #12 Gophers, #13 Northwestern, #14 USC, #15 Iowa

Nebraska, Rutgers win: Rutgers, Nebraska, Northwestern, Gophers, USC

Iowa, Gophers win: Gophers, Rutgers, Iowa, USC, Northwestern

Nebraska, Gophers win: Gophers, Nebraska, Rutgers, Northwestern, USC

Not true. If we lose today and Iowa wins, we're in the #12 v #13 game.

Rooting against the Gophers isn't something I would ever do.

Would you root against a pro sports team that is in line to get a top pick in the draft......such as the N.Y. Giants last year (losing out on one of the top two quarterbacks potentially by winning a meaningless game in December)?

Cool…do the Gophers get a better draft pick if they lose today?

How is that even remotely relevant?

These.

Does anyone know if there's any chance of missing of BT tournament at this point? If Iowa wins, one 7-13 will be left out.

How is that even remotely relevant?

Not relevant to your initial position and frankly I wasn't even challenging it. Some view winning a few games in February as harmful to the overall health of the program as it might lead to a different decision on the head coach. You don't. That's fine. I was honestly just curious if you felt the same as it pertains to pro sports. Never mind. 🤷‍♂️
