***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PENN STATE IN-GAME THREAD***

I have no idea why Pitino doesn't go to Buggs as the backup for Konate more often - rather than Gaston who clearly is not ready yet. Buggs adds a scorer who can rebound.

Pitino appears to have a doghouse that isn't easy to escape once you get placed in it. We saw it with Elliot last year and we've seen some of it with Buggs this year.

He was very slow to send Elliott into the doghouse, but once he was in there, it was Alcatraz.

Pitino has some sort of axe to grind with Buggs that goes beyond his lapses in play. He appears to feel the same way about him as Mike Zimmer does about Cordarrelle Patterson.

Nice half. Survived it without Murphy. Good defense, good shooting, but a little sloppy with the turnovers-mostly unforced.

PSU will not shoot that poorly from 3 all night. Hopefully fewer TO's offset.

Cut down on the turnovers and this game is ours.

I actually think that Pitino thinks Buggs has potential and thinks he can fix him by teaching him a lesson. However, I think Buggs is always going to get lost on the perimeter on defense. I think that on this team he would be better off playing inside on defense and the high post on offense. He's a good passer and a real good shooter who could pull the other team's center out from the lane. He is also learning to rebound a little and can block shots. I hope we see more of him at center.

Buggs could thrive in a swing offense-type offense or some sort of high-low set. They should run some pick and roll with him.

Indeed. Let's hope he rethinks that strategy with Buggs because if the threes weren't falling as well as they are, we'd be behind in part because of the problems in the post.

I'm unconvinced he's going to thrive in any system, but I hope I'm wrong. Buggs went to the bench after several horrible games. Not sure its a dog house yet.

Buggs was more resistant to some of Pitino's coaching. I only know some of the details, but he wasn't always the most willing to be coached. Not sure how it's changed since, but yeah.

One way or another, I hope Buggs is the first center off the bench when Murphy needs to go out.

The last few games Nate Mason is playing like the best player on the team, which I thought he would be all along. Huge if he can keep it up.

There isn't a player on this team except for Murphy who hasn't had at least one horrible game this year and multiple players have had multiple bad games. Buggs is the only one of the regulars who has been sat entire games.

Morris makes terrible play going 1 on 3. Morris makes great play getting the ball back somehow. Some things will never change.

We have zero IQ on defense - leave Garner wide open repeatedly.

Leave Garner wide open but foul an inferior shooter on the perimeter.

Wow! A genuine power forward move by Joey against a guy who outweighs him by a fair amount.

Buggs will be Buggs, and the game is not over Howdy.

Konate - inexcusable. Well, I suppose when you don't get much court time, you have to take advantage of your opportunities to make mistakes.

Entertaining game tonight. Shooting has been good and now need to rebound and play a little d.

Why Morris chose to double at the top of the key leaving their shooter open is not clear.
