***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PENN STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Weird game, lots of dumb fouls and TO’s Garcia got a lot of hustle and extra effort points tonite and strong on the glass. Good to see as his 3 pt was not there tonite. The team was really scrappy on D .

I was able to watch very little of this game, but I did catch the last several minutes on the radio. I tell you, when this team plays their defense they can beat people. PSU had been 10-1 at home; did I hear that right?

I'll be surprised if the Gophs don't make the conference tourney now.

My favorite part was Rigsby getting some run after not playing, and being cocky and talking a little trash.

All from a guy who couldn't get into the game.

I felt good for him.
Didn't get the chance to watch live but watched a recording of the game. Rigsby was massive last night. Feel good for the kid to have a great game like that in what I am sure has been a really frustrating season for him.

Bummer Dawson couldn't sink that final free throw to keep the 20 point streak alive.

Solid road win over a team that we can match up well against. Especially when they are missing their center. If we can sweep PSU it will definitely increase our odds of qualifying for the BTT.

Holding tie breakers over Penn State will certainly improve our chances of making the BTT (assuming of course we beat them when they come to Williams).

Brutal first half for both teams last night, much better play in the second half.

watched the first half not the 2nd and was surprised by the ending score when i say it later!

my side note, making the BBT is now our high level goal for the season? That's what we are gonna be from now on with NIL and players leaving, might be really tough for people to ever get excited bout MN basketball again!

Yanked after nearly throwing ball to other team.
Remember the excitement some had after he committed? Fact was he’s not a D1 player. Lighting up the Gophers last year earned him a year in the Big Ten.

Does Rigsby ever bench press? I think he could use a few minutes in the weight room.

I feel like Johnson needs to work more guys in, especially in the 1st half. Ride the hot hands.

You definitely watched the wrong half....first was brutal, second much better.

Obviously just making the BTT is not a long term goal but for the 24-25 season it is where we are at.

Think the gophers have attendance issues. You could hardly find anyone in the seats at Penn state tonight.

Nice to have a football program that Carrie’s the load at psu
Well, when you play one game at home every other week, on a weekend, it is easier to travel into the valley. Playing, at minimum, a game every week and during the middle of the week keeps people from coming into the game. It's not like the valley is a 3.5 million people metro area. In this Area UMN shows itself to be worse than PSU in regard to attendance.

Happy Valley apologist over here.

Yea, our attendance issues are NOTHING compared to Penn State, Maryland, Iowa, etc etc. (probably more).

Neither is the Barn close to the lowest rung in terms of atmosphere.

If Ben is to have a 50/50 chance of keeping his job, the course is now laid out for him:

Next three games- brutal- go 1 and 2 -need an upset.
Last 5 games- all winnable with the toughest game at home (Wisky)- go 4-1.

That gets him to 9-11 with limited talent and it could at least be argued that he did a good coaching job with a questionable roster. I think it is time to move on but this is where I think the line might now be. 8-12 and his chances move to 25%. 7-13 10% or less

Little late. He's a senior. (First year was JUCO, so he might be able to come back next year)

Crazy is that he played 36 games last year and 21 the year prior. He can't get off the bench lately but has a perfect shooting night when he plays.

When you bank in a desperation 3 as the shot clock is about to expire you know it is just your night. May not happen again this season but for one night at least Rigsby got to be the star of the show.

Whoever made the Charles Buggs reference was spot on. One shining moment...

I would like to see more guys in the rotation, but Rigsby is a defensive liability. Kind of floats around like Peter Pan.

Yes, when life leaves you with lemons you make lemonade. Of course, it's still possible they could do better than that, not the NCAA tournament but there are the NIT and the proposed Las Vegas tournament.

As far as NIL, I expect to see some diminishment of that funding over time after revenue sharing kicks in next season.

Better to be lucky than good I guess. Not likely they’ll shoot that well again this season and had they not last night they probably would not have won.

Been to Happy Valley once, beautiful place but hard to get to, especially on a weeknight. 2.5 hours from Pittsburgh & 3 hours from Philly. Can see why they would want to play a few games in their old, smaller gym each year.

When there were discussions about admitting Maryland and Rutgers, some Big Ten coaches opined that they'd much rather travel to those places than travel to State College. Between the Susquehanna River area and the greater Pittsburgh area, PA is pretty barren for an otherwise populous state, especially in the northern half. Compared to the Midwest, it also isn't much fun to drive at night (very dark with winding roads).
