Back at it after that awful performance vs Indiana. Big opportunity to finish .500 in conference play and avoid a dismal end to the season.

Stop jacking 3s when the 3s aren’t falling. Match the energy and passion of Fox.

We need this one.

GET ‘ER DONE JOHNSON!!!!!!!!!!!

Gophers are not a strong low post team. Ben recruited shooters -- Hawkins, Mitchell, and Christie.

Shoot open threes. That's how we win.

Many things in life cannot be comprehended. Why good shots won't go down some nights is near the top of the list. It just happens.

When the team is missing free throws do we say, "Don't get fouled?" No, we want to keep shooting them. When a good outside shooting team is cold, you can't back away from your strength.

Of course you feed Garcia as much as possible. But he is not a low post player. He wants the ball 12 feet from the basket and he is good enough to maneuver into a lot of shots from there. Go to him all the time and he will be double and triple teamed.

Payne hasn't learned yet how to get low position for ball entry. He also is getting the ball too much out about 12 feet. He is not a skilled ball handler and dribbler so you can't continually go to him there.

Feed the big guys enough to keep an honest defense. And shoot threes. If Christie starts 0-5 on threes, who is the best guy to take the next one? Christie.

When Ben was searching for transfer guards last spring, there is no question why he settled on Hawk and Mitch. Hawkins was 44.6% on threes last year. Mitchell was 42%.

Northwestern is a good team but we matchup pretty well with them and the first game was very even until we finally pulled away in OT.

Need some shots to fall early so that guys can get the confidence back and hopefully Payne's back isn't bugging him too much so that he can be a factor inside.

Garcia, Hawkins, and Christie should all be pretty ticked at how they played against Indiana so hopefully they come out firing on all cylinders. Guess is that it will be a close game and hopefully we can make the plays/shots to pull off the upset and head into the BTT with a little momentum.

Right now Gophers are in the NIT as a lower seed. This is a pivotal stretch of games, now into B1G-T.

Some things to consider:

-Look at the Gophers shooting percentage against Illinois.

-Then look at the Gophers shooting percentage against Indiana.

Can anyone predict what comes next?

In one game, Christie has an uncontested 3 go SWOOSH!

In another game, it hits the rim again and again.

One thing about that Illinois team: 4 of 5 starters were seniors. Gophers are still young. Patience.

It super sucks for some people at GH that Gophers do not have 4 seniors starting. Their heads explode with disappointment. For the rest of us, we realize it's a process unfolding, and we can think for ourselves what the team may look like next year. Not everyone adheres to the "Doom Cult Fixated on 2022'," 2022 their golden calf.

A loss today would be disappointing. 9-11 in conference could be tied with a WW participant in terms of conference record. Improvement over previous seasons but a 10th place finish isn’t inspiring or parade worthy.

Northwestern isn’t that good. Definitely a winnable game. Find a way to neutralize Buie a bit and gophers will win easy.

Go Gophers!!!!

Guards vs Guards in this one. We gotta defend!!!

I thought the big push started at the begining of the season....

Northwestern isn't a great team but they are solid. Have beaten both Purdue and Illinois and lost their road game with Purdue in overtime during the infamous free throw game where Purdue had 46 attempts to Northwestern's 8.

It is a winnable game but we have to shoot well to have any shot as Northwestern won't be a pushover.

very conflicted. path forward in B10 tournament looks far more troubling if we win tonight

just play a competitive game. don't crap the bed.

haven't seen any update on the status for Carrington and JOJ. could really use some depth tonight.

The post with the Marcus quote says that we could get the 8th seed with a win. At worst we get the 10th seed. I want to win another game because that will improve our NET ranking which is perilously close to the likely NET boundary. I don't see much difference when it comes to the Big Ten tournament. If we get the 8th seed, we play #9 and then end up playing Purdue if we win the first game. If we get the 10th seed, we play #7 and then end up playing Illinois if we win the first game. Pick your poison. I don't see a big difference. If we wanted a significant difference, we had to win both of our last regular season games to hopefully get the 5th seed.

I think like 14 of their 18 wins are by 9+

I meant in conference. The nonconference competition is no longer relevant. Even in those conference games where we've won by a decent margin, it was a struggle to get there.
