***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MICHIGAN, WHO CLEARLY WAS LOOKING PAST DUKE TO OUR GAME, IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

He has exceeded expectations just by seeing the court and giving some very game minutes, but I think the writing is on the wall for Shinholter. When you’re literally the only available guy on the bench, and the coach gives you minimal minutes, it speaks volumes. I expect to see him at a smaller school next year.

Nonsense. He's a true freshman. Wildly inconsistent now, which is why his minutes are capped, but when he's playing well, you can see the potential. Give the kid some time to learn. I'd be surprised if Medved didn't want him back.

I checked the box score. In 7 min a complete line of zeros, except for the last category, 1 TO. I have noticed this before. He plays but you don’t know he is out there. He doesn’t play poorly, nor does he play well. He virtually just runs around in circles. I told someone this morning he looks like a good basketball player but doesn’t do anything.
He looks like what most 200th ranked recruit in the country would as a true freshman. He's just not ready. But I think he could develop into a good player.

Yep....some guys are ready to succeed as a true freshman, most aren't. Fans can sometimes be quick to make determinations on players based on how they look as a freshman.

No clue if Shinholster will be part of the plan going forward but he has shown some flashes of being a quality player. He just has a lot of developing to do and ideally he would have been able to redshirt this year as opposed to being forced into action due to all the injuries. Hopefully these minutes this year end up helping him develop quicker so that he can be a bigger part of things next year if he is back with the team.

Yes, the 2022 loss was absolutely abysmal. It was one of the weakest performances I have ever seen at the Barn by our Gophers. That 15 point loss was actually much worse if you were there to watch it in person.
I feel no intense need to denigrate Ben Johnson. He was paid well and he tried his best. He just wasn't ready to be the head coach at Minnesota and that night was one of many nights that he proved he wasn't ready. This is fact, not denigration. It may be hard for you to differentiate the two.
Did you mean for me to differentiate between denigration and repetitive denigration? That one’s fairly easy! One is a harsh observation, and the other is simply kicking a dead horse!

The horse isn't dead. The facts remain.

I was pulling for Minnesota. Having your game between Duke and Illinois, I thought you might catch them looking behind and ahead. Emotional loss to Duke, then at Illinois to whom they have lost 9 in a row plus the Morez Johnson angle.

I hope Yaxel scores 3 points again but I’m not betting on it.

Anyway, I enjoy watching Minnesota play.
