'Twas the night before Michigan game and all through the Big Ten
Not a team was worrying about a Gopher, not even a Wolverine
The illegal Fab 5 banners were hung by their AD with care
Yet our 1997 banners are in a closet with no one able to stare
In the hopes that Juwan Howard soon would return UM to glory
The Gophers were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of high fives and butt slaps danced in their heads.
Coach Johnson in his room buried in game film
Battle just settled down for a long evenings nap.
When out on the court at Crisler Arena arose such a clatter
Thorson sprang from his bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window Parker Fox jumped with glee
Tore open the shutters and worried about his knee
The moon in Ann Arbor of the new fallen snow
Gave a nod to an upstart team not ready to be ignored.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear
But teamwork, hustle, defense and grittiness reappear.
With a little old big man no longer lively or quick
But we knew in a moment, it must be Eric
More rapid than he’s been, his leadership it came
And the Gophers shouted and a Rouser they sang

GET ‘ER DONE JOHNSON!!!!!!!!!!

This is great! I appreciate the effort you have put into it. Here are the three rhyming couplets that got my wife (a huge Gopher fan) and I chuckling the most:

"The Gophers were nestled all snug in their beds

Tore open the shutters and worried about his knee

Thank you! It was fun to write!

Thanks for the early Christmas present 🎁!

How do we stop Dickenson? Do we run some type of box and one with constant help against Dickenson? Does Curry foul out? I am curious to see how we attack this Michigan team.

Stan the Man!!! That was great. Love the "high fives and butt slaps" reference. Along with the illegal fab (small f) 5.

Ben Johnson would kick Juwan Howard's ass!!!!

Haven't watched much MI this year. Think it is going to be tough to slow down Dickinson, so I'd focus my defense on shutting down Brooks. Can't have 2 players dominating. Would also like to see some 2/3 and 1/3/1 mixed in tonight. The past few games, the change ups seem to have worked at least for short periods of time

Michigan by 14? I know we're in enemy territory here so anything can happen, but that seems wacky. They're not ranked. Maybe I'm just to much of a homer.

Hoping for another good effort that keeps us within striking distance throughout. I’d like to see some action for battle to get clean looks early. He forced a few in the first half. I would also consider sprinkling in some high pressure defenses that could create some easy transition points for EJ and Sean. Those two looked like different players after we ratcheted up the pressure against MSU.

Up until about two weeks ago, Michigan was really struggling, and I didn't like their chances in this game. They have played much better the past two games, though, and I expect Michigan to play the role of an unreformed Scrooge and not give Minnesota the win they desire.

I just put a pretty penny down on Minnesota +13.5. We’re not good but I don’t think we’re even close to 14 points worse than Michigan.
I’m pondering the +7.5 FH

I could see the game ending up pretty close. I certainly would be surprised if it ended up like Michigan's 102-67 win over Nebraska. Even the color commentator commented how Nebraska looked like they were playing playground basketball at the end. I feel like Minnesota is too disciplined to revert to that kind of play.

Line is hard to read. Don’t know how we stop Dickenson down low so if Michigan is shooting hot on the kick out, this will be ugly. Think this team is scrappy enough to keep it close though

Hunter Dickinson is going to cause us problems all night long if he keeps knocking down that mid-range J. Rebounding is already showing to be a problem but I suppose we all expected it to be.
