***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT #1 OHIO STATE LET'S SHOCK THE WORLD IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

SHOCK. THE. WORLD.

That is the objective, that is the opportunity. Put this program on the fn map with a win at The Shoe, on national prime time TV, under the lights. It happens, not often, but it does happen. It may take a perfect game from us and an abysmal game from them, but why not us, why not now?

Can't play 3 yards and cloud of dust. Can't get FGs inside the 10. Can't turn the ball over. Have to take their big play punches and a couple of bad calls from the officials. We must overcome it all. We must be perfect. But I believe.

SHOCK. THE. WORLD.

GET 'ER DONE FLECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I saw some predictions and most averaged out to be Ohio-35 or 42 points, and the Gophers-10. I thought to myself, "those F'n, Ba$tards they are always dissing teams that have big buck teeth like the Bevers and Gophers. They even put our living Eagle mascot that had a twisted beak.
I think you can see where I'm going with this, your right! Prognosticators hate teams that have visible protruding oral problems. I bet if the Gophers and Bevers had dental implants and gold crowns placed over them you'd gain more RESPECT!
As far as our rehabbed Eagle mascot goes, Freedom, he died early this summer! I was going to start a go-fund-me page for Freedom and have a new gold-plated TITANIUM forged beak for him.
While we were at it I would have his TALONS removed and had Titanium implants done for him but alas I waited to long, so don't be a procrastinator like me!
GS is this Thursday at 7;30 pm on one of the ESPN channels, maybe the OCHO,! If your anorexic and want to blow chunks, then go for it.

PARTY ON GOPHERS!!

TALON

Our 74 was getting killed on the offensive line all night. I was surprised we could not get any pressure on the defense line. I like the future for Lindsey but OL and DL look bad and I don't see a path forward without some serious upgrades from the portal in the next year. Is it time to change OL coach?
Added: DT on fourth and one from a shotgun. Stopping before the line looking for a hole? There hasn't been a hole in three years put your head down and run hard!

I noticed 74 on a play where the OSU DL went right around him ... absolutely zero punch. Zero arm extension.

Just waist bending and trying lean on him, like 8th grade football.

To me he is more of a tackle build. But he started at guard for UCF most of the last two seasons.

Callahan has been PJ's OL coach since Western Mich. Has coached some very good OL. Zero chance he gets fired. EDIT: I guess in 2017 he was TE coach. But all the other seasons 2013-present he has been OL coach

If you take out the game against Northwestern State High School, Gophers are averaging 18 ppg in today's college football.

Is it time to change kickers? I think you need to have Daniel Jackson kicking field goals the rest of the way!

We tried that with Cal by doing a trick play with Koi and everyone lost their minds. I get the emotionality associated with our team losing but there needs to be a bit of a reality check.
Killing a drive that is moving well against a team we have the talent to match up straight up with is fundamentally different than pulling out the stops against a team that is light years ahead of you when you need to do something to try something unconventional to tilt the field in your favor.

The may sum up my frustration with PJ'S in game coaching. He is systematically too conservative, but then recklessly aggressive at bizarre times. It really feels like the game moves too fast for him and his in game decision-making doesn't reflect all of the factors that should be informing the decision.

If Cal blows up your trick play, do you think it'll really be effective against a team two tiers above them? I don't know. I choose not to get long term upset about anything that happened last night. There were two different teams on the field and no in game coaching was going to alter that fundamentally.

PJ is who he is and he's brought some great seasons to us.I don't think the game moves too fast for him, I think we struggle to deal with ways in which he's unconventional in his decision making. Could we use better coordinators? Maybe. I'll give Collins some more leash considering it's his first season as DC and defensive backs were ID'd as a weakness going into the year. Drake has shown that Harbaugh's offense is effective when you have a signal caller who can work through the complexities of that offense. Still a lot of season to go.

Honestly, this game wasn’t lost by PJ, it was lost by the Gopher Fans, or lack there of.

Buckeye fans gave OhSt $35M this year for their roster, Gopher fans gave $3-5MM.

Blame the loss to Cal on PJ. This game against OhSt was lost by the fans, before the game was ever played.

It should not be on the fans to play the players' salaries, any more than it is in the NFL !!!

Lots of current or former officials in this thread. Anyway, agree they weren’t the reason they lost. Also fine to point out or discuss why certain things happen,

Tangentially related in the Vikings game this morning the flag indicator came on the broadcast feed five seconds before the second play from scrimmage kicks off. Play then ensued, official threw flag on field for offensive holding. Replay shows….really nothing in terms of holding. Coincidence? Probably. Wierd, yeah. Grabbing my tinfoil.

Besides media revenue, where do you think the money comes from to pay the players?
$20.5M will largely be paid for at each Big Ten school by the increase in the conference's TV deal.

It's that simple, for me.

Again, I'm not talking about 3rd party NIL ... but also again, if it were up to me that would be all shut down and only school revenue sharing (whatever you want to call it) would be allowed.

Hard cap, as is done in the NFL and what makes that the greatest league in this country and possibly the world.

Let's suppose there is a hard cap, do you really think that will stop wealthy hardcore boosters at blue blood schools from throwing bags of money at the top players? I don't see it happening.

To get to a true hard cap would probably require a collective bargaining agreement, and at that point I think you could negotiate in the contracts that they are not allowed to accept extra payments.

People don't give NFL players bags under the table.
