Just checked the box score. Potts with 34 carries, the other two backs with 5 combined. Right back to the old 'ride our main guy into the ground' approach. Not even the fact that we were playing a MAC team could deter from this instinct.

They're delusional if they think Potts is going to make it through an entire Big Ten season at 30 plus carries per game. And the thought of starting Wiley against Wisconsin or Iowa is cringe inducing.

Not that I am aware of. But when it comes up this week (at least it should), what are the odds PJ will give a real answer? My guess is that under PJ/Sanford's carry distribution system, Ky is allotted 0.25 carries per game. So we may see him used later this month or in October.

I mean, it's probably the weakest team the Gophers will face all year. The risk of Potts getting injured at some point is at least a decent possibility. And yet, 5 carries. FIVE to the guys who are one play away from being a starter.

I think the take-away from today was "it takes 4 quarters of sustained effort to win a football game" as much as anything Xs and Os.
 

This crowd was quiet too. I'm watching the State Penn vs Ball State game because it's in between commercials on other channels. They just got a call go their way and the crowd erupted like they won the national title. They must like their football.

That team had NFL talent on both sides of the ball....Two big time WRs and a second round safety ....This year's team has no one that will be a high draft pick...Certainly not on defense.....This is a mediocre team.

I never said they were. I was really just saying we have a history of playing poorly in non conference games. Today’s performance is concerning but not that surprising unfortunately.
 

Slow start like last year...Not too concerned yet.

A Mason team with Maroney and Barber would have smoked these guys.
 

I know they wanted to give Potts a workout and he looked very good all game, but you can't win in the B10 unless you can pass and Tanner was under 50% today, completing only 7 passes. The third quarter was an embarrassment for both offense and defense. Dull game in many ways. If they play this way at Colorado, they'll lose.

I didn't see on TV but it seemed like there may have been a few dropped (catchable) passes? I was at the game so couldn't tell.
