Amazingly, the Gophers end up outshooting Maryland 41% to 38%. Rebounds ended up about even. And despite the ugly number on the box score, we make 6 clutch free throws in the final :25 seconds.
A couple of other numbers that were interesting. Offensive rebounds, relative to 2nd chance points. One would expect each offensive rebound to be worth at least a point. Maryland had 12 offensive boards worth only 8 points. The Gophers actually had more offensive rebounds (13), but only cashed in 4 points.
Turnovers: The expectation is that each turnover is worth a point. Maryland with 17 turnovers. Gophers scored 15 from that. Terrapins were much better at cashing in on Gopher turnovers. 10 TO cost Minnesota 17 points.
Nice comeback win. Actually, considering that 10 minute stretch in the first half, it was a GREAT comeback win! Good to see Payne come alive in 2nd half. Garcia got some big points at the end of the game. Although he got to the line a lot, I thought we did a nice job on Young. Prior to his last 2 shots, he was just 3-15 from the field with only 1 three point make.
