He has his best roster construction this year and he still can't manage players and their time in the game the right way. His in game coaching leaves so much to be desired I really don't know why I watch the games that I can. I get soooo frustrated and irritated watching what takes place.

Awesome way to end the half... do you think Illinois knew the ball was going to Marcus... does Pitino ever call anyone else's name when it's at the end of the half, or the game? Rhetorical question btw..
 

The last picked off pass a symptom of the problem. ALWAYS has to go to CARR for the last shot.

If it's one thing we can count on with MN BB, a pick and half court shot does fit the bill perfectly.

This isn’t about roster construction. They had enough talent to win at a higher level in this league.

If this is the best roster construction this year, he is awful at it.

he has no shooters. He has no continuity. He has a bunch of players that don’t fit together in a system. The team is mediocre because the roster is mediocre. If things go right, good enough to beat a good team...but not good enough to win consistently
 

Not only did we not get our normal bad shot as time is running out we manage to give Illinois 3 points. Hard to make this stuff up!

Curry is a shell of a big ten basketball player and seeing minutes.
Our best “ shooter”shoots like 25%
Our backup point guard is a freshmen who plays like one.
Carr plays like he is Kobe but isn’t good enough to carry a team every game

there isn’t a coach in this league that could finish top 5 with this sad roster

This. I'm going to go to my grave believing that this team had the talent and composition to do big things this year. And they simply didn't. It's a team sport, and they don't play team ball. I'd like to see what a top flight coach could do with this squad.

Then you are going to you grave being wrong. Because the reason the team doesn’t play together is because the pieces don’t fit together.

agree. That is why this year is so disappointing. Pitino finally put together a roster with talent and depth. A player of the year candidate in Carr. Some great transfers in Robbins and Brandon Johnson. (I won’t count Gach because he’s been an epic disappointment.) plus lots of good role players who have shown talent, like Ihnen, Gabe, Mash.

And this is what we get with it? If Suggs had come here, I don’t know what additional games we win? We get beat by 15 on the road basically everywhere. We’d still be a bubble team. This is the year that finally proves conclusively that Pitino can’t do it, even with the ideal roster.
