***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS UNCW IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Now both Dre & DeAndre in dire medical condition! ;)

I don't know who is playing better now.. Mathieu or Nate Mason... both thoroughly impressive. Tougher defenses await, but man... impressive.

Wow. This team is awfully fun to watch. We may be exceeding expectations this year.

I think expectations were to go 11-2 except the 2nd loss was supposed to be Gonzaga and not St. John's.

And our best win was supposed to be St. John's and not Georgia.

Apparently Mathieu's funny bone is in his spine, I understand that 2% of males experience this:

From GopherLady's postgame notes:

DeAndre Mathieu
On his injury - Just hit my funny bone and his fingers went to sleep

Now if they could only reach the level of Julian Welch.

Couldn't resist.

Agree with this. 11-2 was expected. On track, but no more than that. Now need to carry what we've been doing on the road in tough environments. Pitino rightly has been saying that's a key to the season. Plain and simple, Purdue needs to be a win, and I think it will be.

Really fun game to watch. Loved to see the pressure turned up in the first half during the big run. Carlos Morris had a shaky start to the game, but then played really well. Their was some Vince Grier to his game today and not much Chip Armelin. Really nice to see both Mason and Morris establish career highs going in to conference play, confidence should be high going in to game one.

The one negative (besides the rebounding) out of this game for me was Bakary Konate. After looking improved over the past couple games, this one was really rough. One thing that was apparent in this game was that Bakary is a slow reactor. I don't know if this is something that can be improved with more experience playing basketball or simply something you are born with/without. He's slow to get up in the air for rebounds and slow to contest a shot.

I am hoping that this is part of him adjusting to the the way fouls are called. Yesterday in his 10 minutes he had only one foul. In the pre-preseason scrimmage I think he fouled out twice, once on each side for a total of 10 fouls. I'm trying to make an adjustment in my gait running these days and its driving me crazy. So I am thinking his awkwardness yesterday is due to reining in his aggressiveness and that loss of instinctive movement that comes with making a change.
Hoping, anyway!
