***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS HAWKEYES GAME THREAD!!!!!!!!***

Now its NW and PSU are must wins, and just one of @IU, @MSU, @UW and home vs UW to finish 8-10 and at least be in the conversation. Win 2 of those last 4 and we are GOLDEN!!!

Late game problems aside, this was a good performance. Defense is very good and getting better. Dre is playing like Dre.

That would be 9-9 and yeah that is what we need to do. Win the home games. And get 1 road win.

A few weeks ago people were questioning could Pitino coach, would he lose this team- those questions are answered. He has them playing better defense and he had players like Buggs contributing. Tonight was really big because these guys just got over a huge mental hump - Nate Mason steeped up and did what he hasn't been able to. He hit the big shots at the finish. Love it! Hollins was terrific and these guys played really hard. great road win!

He is still inexcusably bad at free throws for a guard. Other than that though...greatness.

Tonight can be a turning point...Nothing in his form suggests he should be that bad of a FT shooter. And the kid has onions...

Man, I am in really good shape and am not that old, but watching these games has to be putting an amazing strain on all my vital organs. THANK YOU ANDRE HOLLINS! That big 3 to extend the lead and then the HUGE drive to draw the foul much later where he put in both free throws. That was the type of veteran play we expected to see from you down the stretch in close games all year. A shout out to Mo Walker as well who stripped Gessell clean and then made the free throws to absolutely seal it.

My god, could we have made this easy though? That game was over 3 separate times. Buggs had 3 huge mistakes towards the end of the game (bad/slow closeout to allow a Uthoff 3 off a scramble, then the huge turnover on the inbounds pass, and finally fouling Uthoff and breathing life in to a game that was over). I blame Pitino at least partly for the inbounds play though, that's the second game in a row where we have resorted to trying to launch the ball back towards half court and only a great play by lil Dre prevented the first one from having the same result as the one tonight.

Finally, what was the BS foul on Andre Hollins on Clemmons? The Gophers had corralled a loose ball and look to be off to the races and a late whistle off the ball waaaaaay after any shot was taken? If that call wasn't made, the Gophers probably save a few of us from 5-10 minutes more of super high anxiety.

Last point, Elliott Eliason gave the Gophers some great minutes while Mo was out with foul trouble...I was actually hoping Pitino would stick with him. That call on Eliason was really strange, Woodbury had his arm draped over Eliason...how is he not allowed to move it off of him? Then the officials spend an hour looking at the play like it could be a flagrant? If anything the initial foul should have been on Woodbury (prefer a no call all around) or worst case a double foul. I know Eliason complains about every play and that absolutely screws him with the refs but wow was that bad.

Best road win in a while. I'm not going to get my hopes up for the tourney. I'd love to see a deep NIT run at this point. Just hope the young guys continue to develop. Dorsey, Mason, Morris, Buggs, and Konate might not be a horrible starting 5 next year.

Minnesota beats Iowa AND THE REFS!!! The officials tried hard to give Iowa this win. Makes me feel that much more proud of the guys for pulling this off. Granted a few Gophers tried to help out the Hawkeyes and the officials, but enough Gophers wanted this win and made it happen.

After Iowa pulled off that big upset of Maryland, I really didn't think we'd have a chance. Now my expectations are again rising. Just gotta pray they don't get us all excited just to let us down, as has happened so many times in the past.

Questioning Pitino after the bad loss to Penn State was justified. Now Pitino has answered. He is a good coach!

Stupid. Reffing was fine. Tough game to officiate with dozens of calls that could have gone either way. Impressed they didn't call any flagrant fouls on road team.

Well, just finished reading this whole thread at the sports bar at the Commerce Casino. Got into L.A. just after tip and there was less than 4 minutes remaining when I got here, after getting a rental car and driving 16 miles in just over an hour. Thankfully I found the game on satellite in the car, but had to listen to the Iowa broadcast.

And through all of that, all I want to add is that these in game threads are un-fu$!#@g-readable.

Have a nice night.

Agreed. It was hard fought game. If there was home cookin unnecessary flagrants would have been called.

Stupid? Or just a differing opinion? I am not the only Gopher fan who felt there was so home cooking by the refs. Commentators seemed to at least hint that they felt the same way. So you label several Gopher fans and the commentators to be "stupid"?

This IS America, you are free to disagree with my opinion, and express your own OPINION.

And what is this bs about being surprised no flagrant fouls were called on the road team? What does it matter whether a team is the road or home team? Are you one of those "stupid" people who think the home deserves more calls going their way than the road team?

I suppose I am stupid for feeling EVERY game should be called evenly?

Kids concert tonight listened on the way there. Extremely pleased.

You are correct that we have the right to express our opinions and a number of us have the opinion that your observation is stupid. The referees were pretty balanced.

Think your calling out the wrong person o the flag rants comment. That was me! Forgive me I've just watched enough road big ten games to feel that way. Even so I thought it was a fairly called game. We were clearly the aggressor in this game and the foul calls weren't that uneven.

My opinion has to be stupid? It's an OPINION. holy sh1te, do you feel better about yourself that you called someone stupid? lol Is your life that lacking in fulfillment and accomplishment that you have to come online and call people stupid to feel better about yourself and to sleep better at night?

If it makes you sleep better at night by convincing yourself that you are superior to someone you discuss sports with over the internet, then have at it, I am probably just a stupid idiot dumbass no nothing retard and I bow to your superior cbb knowledge and intellect and to your superior character, who was I to think that my mere opinion was even worthy to be expressed.
