***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS BUCKEYES BTT IN GAME THREAD!!!!!!!!***

Wow. Was just looking at box score from game - Bakary had a +/- of -19 tonight. Gophers were +13 when Konate was not playing. Obviously, not his best game.

As I said, when Konate was out there they hit some baseline passes and slashes into the lane before be was able to set up at the back. There was a stretch late in the first half I believe where they hit him a few possessions in a row.

The most frustrating part of last nights game, and many games this season and prior, was the number of stupid fouls. I don't know whether the players are just that dumb or if it's because of the overly aggressive defense Pitino wants them to play. I just don't get it. Especially little hand fouls. And especially light fouls on layups that lead to an and-1. Either foul harder so they can't make the layup or dont touch them. I really hope this gets fixed.

There was one of those "quick surprise double team" plays where I believe the OSU guy calmly passed it to the top of the key and they got a layup out of a drive or pass. Maybe more length will help in coming years, but the better teams can pick some of this stuff apart.

Yeah, not really sure what Pitino was thinking last night with playing BK. I thought EE was more effective in his limited minutes and his defensive presence on the inside would have helped. I think BK is going to be a solid player in a couple of years, but why we were playing him instead of EE last night was puzzling. Basketball is more than plain athletic ability and that is quite evident in the way our younger players play. They often look lost and you can tell they are thinking thru every step which neutralizes their perceived athletic advantages.

Where do you find box scores with the +/- stat for college basketball games?

Well, here's a far fetched but not completely implausible theory: Pitino is sick of coaching this team for this year and would rather hit the recruiting trail as soon as possible to have a better chance of getting a couple of significant recruits for next year. He would be obligated to accept an NIT bid but not a CBI bid. The junior college national championship tournament starts Monday.

Don't you sorta have to know how the other team scored and how it was that we didn't score? This stuff works a whole lot better over the long term then looking at a 15 minute section like this. It was a game of runs and obviously BK was in for some bad stretches. How much did he cause? I'm sure he played a part, but not sure how much.

True, it's just one out of the 5 players, but it still says something when your team gets outscored by this much in your limited minutes on the court. Team played poorly while he was on the floor, played well while he was on the bench last night.

We lost as a team, not because of an individual. Period.

Well I watched the game closely and I had the same sense as the +/- box score although I didn't know the net result was -19.
