*** OFFICIAL GOPHERS-ILLINOIS GAME THREAD ***

Definitely a less than impressive start, but I'm feeling pretty good about our chances. We've been driving into a really stiff wind in the 1st, which clearly made things tough (including the punts). We ran the ball fairly effectively even without much of a passing threat. Illinois O looked horrendous, save for the big flea-flicker. I'm going to say we score two TD's in the 2nd quarter and go into half leading 14-6.

Quick observations:

- Love the uni's. Haven't seen that combo since Mason.
- Missed tackles.
- Stoudermire burned on flea flicker again.
- Marek L good at getting to next level on run blocks. Might be to small to pancake anyone though.
- Another slow start.

End of the 1st quarter. Down 3-0. Defense looks good in short yardage and punting looks good. Other than that....not so good.

Offense needs to look better. Had some nice run plays, but, other than that, nothing to speak of.

Unis do look awesome!

Like I predicted....this game has a horrible "feel" to it. Hopefully it turns out like the Western Michigan game (minus the injuries) -which had the same feel

Run, run, pass. Run, run, pass. Run, run, pass...

Relax gang. Stiff winds make for changes in game calling. We have the wind this quarter.

Blah...second offsides on Hageman. Illini would've struggled to convert a 3rd and long. Unacceptable. I'm still fairly confident, but this game is off to a HORRENDOUS start.

Hageman must be letting the NFL get to his head.:rolleyes:

Gophers are fulfilling the pre-game conventional wisdom: Illinois up, playing best game of the year; Gophers flat, making mistakes, dull offensive calls, etc.

I hear you. Seems like a game where both teams are lacking energy.

Jeff Dubay tweet: "week in week out there is not a more poorly coached, less disciplined team than us. Want to like kill but it's awfully hard to."

Go Gophers!!

Seems every other BIG 10 team has dominated Illinois... it would be us that struggles...

Jeez, overreact much? Were we "poorly coached and less disciplined" than the opponent during these games: Syracuse? Purdue? Last year Iowa? Last year Illinois? For the most part, games we've lost over the past two years have been to teams that were better than us. I can think of one, MAYBE two exceptions that that, but I wouldn't say that coaching has been our issue.

Nice play calling after a fumble. What a joke.

Don't worry we are gonna open it up now that the wind is at our back! Ha!
