Ugly first half. Good second half. Let's have one post game analysis thread.

Maybe Saul should work at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. They have former NCAA athletes working for them. :D

Better team won. Florida shot lights out in the first half and we looked completely unprepared again. Just like we did for the entire second half of the year. Your opinion and mine on whether to keep Tubby won't matter. Will be up to the AD and the boosters. Will be an interesting off season...

Thanks Rodney, Mbakwe, Welch and Ingram for their contributions to the U. Whatever happens in the offseason I thank Tubby for rebuilding the program back to respectability.

I would assume the decision on the coach probably already made. If a change is going to be made I would also assume they already know the guy that will be hired.

Very poor job of game coaching by Smith.

1. Not having his team mentally prepared in that first half.
2. Too much Oto, and playing him at all without standing no-shoot orders.
3. Yelling at Dre for shooting the basketball when Dre shooting the basketball was our only hope.
4. Taking Dre out for more than 2 minutes after picking up his 4th foul.

Teams that you see pulling upsets in the Tournament don't make these kinds of errors.

Seriously?

46 - 62 in conference with no better than a 6th place finish is respectable? What are you, a public sector employee?

Are you really going to try to say the program isn't better than when it won 9 games in a year?

Nothing to be ashamed of today. The guys played hard, fought their way back in it. They have a fair number of kids that just don't have very good offensive skills and a lot of shots were missed that should have been finished. Meanwhile Florida cashed in every open shot in the 1st half.

The next 24 to 48 hours will be really interesting.

Couldn't make up for disastrous 1st half today...Nice effort in the 2nd half to make it somewhat respectable.

Tubby using the zone was the key in the 1st half. We always leave people wide open because our guys over-rotate. UCLA couldn't make the shots but Florida sure did...

More enfuriating for me was the officiating. We got jobbed bigtime. If the game had been called correctly it would have been tied with 5 minutes to go.

Sucks that we didn't get a fair shake but that's life.

Hoping Tubby decides to gracefully retire....Not holding my breath. The good news is that there's time for Teague to go after Shaka if he hasn't already reached a deal with UCLA.

Tough loss but got in too deep of a hole and couldn't get back out. The changing point of the 2nd half was when Andre picked up his 4th foul on a very weak call and something that Young got had been doing all game. I thought the reffing was very inconsistent and was very disappointed with them. I'm not sure if Tubby will be back and really don't have much of an opinion on it either way, but I think we will see staff changes either way whether he is gone or he is back and some assistants are gone. I want to thank the senior class for their contribution and their time at the University of Minnesota, gonna especially miss watching Trevor and Rodney play, all of the seniors were great examples of exactly what a Golden Gopher should be.

I'd say more of embarrassing first half, very good 10-12 minutes of the second half, followed by more terrible basketball in the final 8-10 minutes. 'Dre Hollins was NBA Jam "On Fire", yet the Gophers never really made Florida sweat (got it to 7 a couple times).

The way the Gophers defended the 3 in the first half was really inexcusable as was their struggles on inbounds situations. If this was Tubby's last game, it will be fitting because we saw everything that's been an issue during his tenure rear it's head including baffling substitution decisions.

"gonna especially miss watching Trevor and Rodney play"

Really?

48 points in the first half in your most important game of the year? Strategy less of an issue as lack of talent. Slow on defense and a poor shooting and ball handling team. The game is about the three and we, year after year are very low in the Big Ten in defending it. And for the most part can't shoot it either.

1. Playing the zone and big lineup in the first half made no sense to me. The zone worked against UCLA because it slowed them down and weren't great shooters from the outside. It made no sense against a good shooting and athletic team like Florida.

2. I knew it wasn't going to be our night when Mbakwe got mugged early in the game and there was no call, then Florida banks a 3 pointer in. Tough 4th foul on Andre Hollins. Seems like we got the short end of the stick on a lot of 50/50 calls.

3. Just not enough from the seniors again tonight. Mbakwe and Williams played okay, and Ingram did some nice things but not nearly enough.

4. Andre Hollins is very good. I don't agree with those who say we will be terrible next year. We'll miss Mbakwe but the other three are replaceable if you ask me. Plus we could be adding two shooters in Buggs and Ellis.

Trevor missing another 1 and 1 when we could of cut the lead to 6
Taking Dre out after 4 fouls - so what he was on fire - no one else could score!!!
Playing all those subs in the 1st half so we could be down 21 at half!

Are you really going to try to say the program isn't better than when it won 9 games in a year?

You are a disinformation agent for the Smith family. Nobody here wants your dysfunctional program (except for Parski and you)

Quickness of Florida guards

I was suprised how much quicker florida guards were than ours. I also had to temper expectations. Would Donovan even start Dre on his team or would he be a scoring 6th man. They are more talented at most positions. Also Trevor is a great athlete, but some of the rest of our guys, although they are decent leapers, I wouldn't say they have great lateral quickness: Rodney, Coleman, Austin. Out-silled and out -athleted, I don't think it would have mattered if Izo coached the team. Dre being on fire only made it somewhat respectable. I also noticed florida could execute a really good pick and roll that made us switch and they were able to exploit that with a post pass. This is something we can hardly do against good teams. I would think drilling pick and roll for half of every practice might be a start.

Yes once again I am Tubby Smith's agent and I think this is the best Gophers basketball seasons of all time and I am happy with everything that went on with this year. If logic makes me a part of his family than I guess I am. Are you a part of Monson's family?

Sounds like the exact opposite of the last two seasons......Good first half, ugly second half.

The game totally felt like the game at Indiana for awhile. Terrible first half where the other team couldn't miss and then us storming back to get back in it.

It was basically the first IU game all over again....Florida played great in the first half, helped by the officiating...In the 2nd half we played better but didn't get the benefit of their missing FT's as we did at IU and we lost our momentum with the foul trouble.

Tubby did a poor job of having the guys ready for the press in the first half AND the did a poor job of making sure we didn't leave shooters. TOTALLY ON TUBBY!
