I thought when Bateman decided to wear #0 last year, I remember reading that a different player would wear it each year. Not sure if I imagined that, but if so, Walley changing numbers would make sense.

FWIW, Walley is still on the Gophersports roster, but Peter Udoibok (sp?) - who announced he was transferring this week - is not on it. So they clearly update these moves pretty fast.

I, for one, would be shocked if Walley is going anywhere. Seemed like it was all positive for him and he has a path to be a 3-4-year starter in one of the premier football conferences in the country.

The fact that anyone is even looking to see if there is, is the exact reason why this thread should not exist. Nothing good can come from it.

If the thread is clearly rooted in humor with people just messing around I agree. But that is not really the way this thread is trending overall, at least to this point.
 

Hot diggity-dang! Don't we already have enough to worry about with fake Flecks and fake news? Some people will take this seriously.

So my serious question is this......Could he be thanking coach since he's been selected to wear 0 next year? Any idea how it is decided who wears it?

Think the tweet could mean any number of things which is why threads like this where everyone starts guessing can be so counter productive.

As for the #0, have no clue how they handle it but it has only been an option for a couple of seasons.

2020 - Bateman
2021 - Brockington & Walley (both true freshman so if it was going to be ceremonial seems odd they would give it to a true freshman and not established stars)
2022 - Brockington & Walley is what I am going with until I see something different on the roster :)

In what way is 0 a prestigious uniform number?
 

PJ never came back from Arizona, probably kidnapped, the U is covering it up, players have finally given up hope and are trying to tell us…

Wenger is the Special Teams coach, so it could be something as simple as, Glaze being told that he'll no longer practice with the special teams.
