Official Bash SEC Narrative Thread

On the B1G side I think Iowa is better than Michigan this year but the committee disagrees.

True. For me, there's one exception. I like awarding the top 5 conference champions with an auto bid even if they have a less-than-best resume'.
this is crazy until acc figures out their scheduling. Getting a Duke in the playoff would be crazy because of the absurd scheduling dynamic

I agree but losses are losses, and absent of a big win I suppose hard to jump a team with fewer losses

Minnesota is Iowas best win!

Notre Dame schedule agreement is through 2037 to play five every year.

It boils down to this, SEC is owned by espn/disney. They have a ton of influence over CFP committee and AP. They keep teams highly ranked in standings to push their product for return of investment. The more teams in CFP is more money exposure for them.

Only way to combat this is if FOX B1Gs big media partners starts pushing its weight around to counter that

Now that the SEC isn't dominant, the narrative has changed to "The Big 10 isn't as deep, it isn't a gauntlet. Look: they don't have as many ranked wins." Suddenly all they care about is ranked wins.

That is because they get to have half their conference ranked at the start of every season so even their losses are typically "ranked losses" and that keeps them ranked! If you have two conferences that are roughly equal and you rank half of one and only 4 of the other, guess what? One of those conferences will have many more ranked wins! Then pile on with the ESPN talking heads, Finebaum, Herbstreitt, etc... and you get to eternally maintain your hypothetical win kingdom. It really grinds my gears.

SECSPN. Plus the SEC has a full time on staff lobbyist in Paul Finebaum.......can't stand that guy.

The best thing would be for the SEC to go 0-5 in the playoff. Everyone in the country wants this now except the southeast. It will get worse for them.

There is a big thing in this country that more money = better
Or more viewers = better

More people watching Tennessee vs Vanderbilt than Colorado vs Kansas state does not mean Texas is better than BYU

Cal beating Mn and Georgia beating Georgia Tech doesn’t mean Texas is better than BYU

They might be! But conferences don’t play games. Teams do.
Fans don’t play games, teams do.
