Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

His Dad played for the Gophers, so hopefully that will help us land him.
It's fun to see the development of these kids. He was 6'3 205 going to college. He's now 6'4" 240. That's two seasons of a college program. MN has some quality programs to look at. There are 8 D2 programs, St. Thomas, and 14 D3 programs that can develop a diamond in the ruff from time to time.

Jung from Bethel went to Wisconsin and started after a redshirt and becoming All American at Bethel.

Very true and Dehnicke himself says he is 6'5" now, so clearly he has grown and added some good weight since high school and looks to be a very solid receiving prospect at the tight end position. I'm hoping we land him.

Looked like he had 49 tackles but no sacks, tfl, pass deflections or int's but only a Jr. Surprised they don't switch to linebacker at that size.

Speaking of Bethel they have a Freshman back with size from Duluth that had 13 rushing, 2 receiving and around 1000 total yards. Splits some carriers but they seem to be a passing first team. Wonder if Taye Manns will make the jump at some point like the tight end from Minnesota Duluth.

Almost just like the Gophers. Except ours was a redshirt Frosh...
And picking up on that theme, Kollock will be a redshirt freshman at his next stop.

It's made me think about how important recruiting QBs will be. Obviously, you need a good one but guys who are brought in as freshman probably gauge what's ahead of them and transfer sooner rather than later. Ty Simpson sat for two years at Alabama after redshirting his first year. I don't look over all of the rosters in college football, but it strikes me from the 30,000 foot level that he's an exception to the rule in the portal era.

It is hard to get a true gauge on it but we see it when the threads ranking the QBs come out and you go team by team and see all the transfers listed as being in their first year at the helm.

It would be kind of interesting to go through every teams QB room and see what kind of experienced depth teams have behind the starters. My guess is most would have very little these days.

Edit:
Using Wisconsin as an example since they played a lot of QBs
Starter - Billy Edwards - Graduate Student - Lot of experience
Backup - Hunter Simmons - Redshirt Senior - Some MAC experience never a full season
Backup - Danny O'Neill - Sophomore - started one season at San Diego State
Backup - Carter Smith - True Freshman

Edwards was supposed to be the guy. After he went down both Simmons and O'Neill were given a chance and both were very underwhelming leading them to eventually turn to the true freshman. They actually had a little bit of experience behind Edwards but neither player did well when asked to lead the team.

This guy is incredibly talented. He possesses great speed and hands, and he dominated games during his time at UMD. I'm excited we offered him.
Great time for Dehnicke to transfer to the U. He's battle-tested and the Gophs have four TEs moving on from the program because of eligibility: Geers, Biber, Bierman and DiSano. Huge opportunity for Dehnicke to move into significant playing time right off the bat.

Andover Native and UMD TE is blowing up after 60 catch 1,100 yard 14 TD season. 3 years remaining.

Recollection is his dad was a solid DE when he played here. Would be cool to see the kid follow in dad's footsteps and come play for the U.

With Driver/Lyons out that leaves Smith, Tracy, Coleman, Nuke, and Martino as guys that can return. I thought we had way more WR on the roster. This is a pretty good core in my eyes though. Maybe one of the t-fr can show something and they grab another WR in the portal.

I love reading your takes on GH. Was listening to a Duluth Radio Station a couple of days ago and they had him on as a guest (taped). He sounded like a wonderful young man. They actually brought up he NFL in the conversation. It sounded like he had an incredible year and after listening to him speak I can understand why we would want him.

It's weird because he was gone over fall practice, got married, but was at every game. Maybe anyone else with a less famous dad would have been told to kick rocks?
If he took a personal leave for mental health, it would be difficult for the school to pull his scholarship. That's kind of what I assumed was happening.

This is my theory, no inside info.

He took all online classes and went back home and would return for the games. I don't know why he didn't just leave school, maybe he really was getting more credits. I don't think he'll play football again.

Sucks to lose 4 WR to the portal. Hoping we can get someone in the portal to replace and help Lindsey

They just added 5 in the 2026 class and it sounds like they are high on Hayes and Martino, I think they’ll be fine. I wouldn’t be surprised if they add at least 1 in the portal too though.

Not too long ago it used to be rare for an underclassman to start at QB. I don’t know if these kids are expecting to start for like three or four years of college ball, but the lack of patience is crazy with some of these guys.

Welcome to a now culture and a bunch of people willing to whisper to you you could start elsewhere. Would be a fascinating study to see of the guys that transfer at qb, how many actually go on to start at their next transfer school and how their numbers look.

With Driver/Lyons
They didn’t show anything, so no big loss, right?

They’ll be plenty of portal options

Hayes didn’t even have a catch this year even Lanier had a few. What happened to Duke?
