Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

I guess that explains why they took 2 QB’s in the 2026 class. I wish him well.

Yeah, having any sort of experience or proven depth at the backup QB position is pretty tough these days with the way guys move around in search of opportunities.

Sad to see anyone go, but you have to wonder his future when he couldn't beat out a redshirt sophomore walk-on for the backup qb spot????
I wouldn't look too much into it as a true freshman QB. There's a lot on a QBs plate from understanding the plays, reading the defense, making checks, etc. It can be a bit overwhelming going from high school to the Big Ten. Shikenjanski had been in the system for a year already so had a leg up, especially early in the season. Probably the hardest position to step in and be successful right away as a true freshman.

In addition, if Lindsey had missed any significant time, the season is probably lost anyways so might as well save his redshirt.

23 class was a dud outside of Taylor, Lanier transferring
Greg Johnson, Kerry Brown, Karter Menz, Matt Kinsbury, Zaquan Bryan.....

Plenty of dead weight in the class but some solid players came out of it and there are few others in there that it is too early to close the book on since those players were either redshirt Sophomores or true juniors this year.

Had Lindsay been hurt Kollock may have seen some time and a decision on his redshirt may have been looked at.

Just saw an article that Emmett Johnson didn't walk on senior day at Nebraska. Folks thought he would be going to NFL. Has one more year of eligibility left. If Raiola leaves Nebraska, who knows if Emmett sticks around? Maybe Emmett finishes up somewhere else? Dare we hope?

They love him at Nebraska, I can’t see him playing for another college. I was wondering if he’s only the second Mn prep to lead the Big Ten in rushing after Darrell Thompson, at least in modern times.

Lanier leaving sucks but Fleck mentioned Nuke in the signing day presser and with them trying to get that WR that ended up at KSU I think it was clear they’re going to add more to that room in the portal
Yeah seemed like Lanier would be in the mix next year, but based on play time this year the top two appear to be Tracy and Jalen Smith maybe Coleman as the third option. Glad they went heavy with the high school WRs this year. I agree on adding a couple in the portal again.

How do you know he couldn't beat out Max? Drake never got injured and wanted to preserve red shirt most likely.
They'd have played him in the blowout games (NWST) if he was better than Shikenjanski or Wittke. They'd want to get him as many live reps as humanly possible if he truly was the second best QB in the room.

Clearly better than Wittke. True Freshman rarely play under Fleck. Especially in game 2. Jackson will be a player for someone at the Power 4 level soon.

What I don’t understand about players in this situation is that if they want to play at P4 Kollock, in this instance, will have to go as a QB2 or into an “open competition”. Had he stayed here for another year he could’ve been the #2 and stayed in a program he knows. I get he can find a marginally better situation elsewhere but he could also get lost in the wash.

Plus the odd thing with Kollock is nothing really changed from the situation he committed to.

Andover native and UMD TE, [player name], is having a breakout season after catching 60 passes for 1,100 yards and 14 TDs. He has three years of eligibility remaining and is playing at a high level.

This guy is incredibly talented. He possesses great speed and hands, and he dominated games during his time at UMD. I'm excited we offered him.

If the Cal QB enters the portal Kollock might be on the Bears' list of possible replacements. California offered Kollock out of high school. It will be interesting to see where he ends up playing. Had some good offers during his initial recruiting.

Cal is not going to take a kid without a snap, or minimal snaps as their starter next year if they do lose JKS (which I don't think happens). Maybe they'd take him as a backup regardless.
