Official 2022 Roster Status - Who is Returning and who is Leaving

This opens a couple questions.
1) Does a school pay for all med school bills, dentistry, law degree etc. while competing?
2) Once you've reached maximum years allowed to play football, does your scholarship stop?
3) Once you leave even if short of your degree, you cannot come back and complete it under scholarship? These would be the guys with a year or two. Kind of like Darrel Thompson who left early but never completed his degree.
There is no way a guy could do Law School or Med school and play football or basketball at the same time.

As a full-time student? No, probably not, and medical school would be harder to work out than law school I would think. But there are courses you could take to qualify as being a student and begin working toward an advanced degree.

Anyone think Gibbens has a chance?
He’ll make an NFL roster with that size, speed, instincts and nose for the 🏈.

wouldn’t surprise me to see him as a late day 3 pick either.

man do we have numbers at the CB position now. And only 1 of which is a senior next year.
Terrel Smith (SR)
Solomon Brown (JR)
Beanie Bishop (JR)-Transfer
Ryan Stapp (JR)-Transfer
Justin Wally (SO)
Miles Fleming (SO)
Jalen Glaze (SO)
Victor Pless (SO)
Steven Ortiz (RS FRESH)
Aiden Gousby (True Freshman)
Ryyland Kelly (True Freshman)
Tariq Watson (True Freshman)

Are any of these guys being looked at moving to safety? We dont have a lot of bodies at that postion....maybe Solomon Brown?

i mean i trust the coaching staff but i am a bit surprised they took another transfer after Stapp. The coaching staff seems to be really high on Fleming/Glaze/Ortiz

Thanks for the list. I thought I read Stapp has 3 years left of eligibility. Did I read that wrong?

you may be right with the covid year....i think he technically is coming here as a Junior but could have his Junior, Senior, & "super" Senior year to play?

edit...looks like he has 2 years left from everything i am reading

2019 recruit who didn’t redshirt. So with the Covid year he probably has 3 left but not totally clear on if it is 3 to play 2 or if he could play all 3 years.

would make sense if a few were being groomed as safeties. I also wonder if Bishop coming in means Smith won’t be back. But that is just a guess on my part with no info either way

yeah i think if he would be a 3 years to play 2 guy

sounds like Bishop played mostly nickel back for last season so would guess thats what spot he will be vying for here.

Walley clearly is locked in at 1 corner spot....but there is going to be some battles for reps at the other corner and nickel spot

If we can add 1-2+ additional DLmen, I'm all set for next year. I still wouldn't mind another LB but not a huge priority. I'm still not sure if MSM and Oliver are enough to be high level. I'd also take OL/TE.

I haven’t done the scholarship count (don’t even know if I could with uncertainty about carryover of W/O scholies), but I have to think that with Mo, Trey and probably Bryce all coming back, and so far Terrell as well, we really don’t have the ability to add many more transfers. I know PJ will make sure no scholarship slot is left unused, but we can’t have but a few if any left (unless we see more transfers out).

That's true. PJ seemed to imply he was thinking there'd still be some guys that end up transferring out before that May (April?) deadline. It also makes sense that if you add some quality transfers, it might end up affecting what guys already here are thinking.

I have no idea on the scholarship count as well. I figure it all just works out one way or another. Maybe they are done w/ transfers. I hope not. Maybe they like where they're at on the DL, but sure seems like we could use help there, or experience at the very least.

Do they have speed in the secondary now?

Easy kid to root for. Glad he is playing in the bowl game and hopefully he lands in a great situation in the NFL. Will get the main post updated with this info.
I feel great for him deserving of the NFL. He could have opted out, but it is just like him to think team first.

He is the poster boy for the Gophers Developmental Program.

Added Big O to the NFL crowd. Seen a lot of mentions of MSM, Howeden, Rush and others all coming back. That would make a ton of sense but has anyone seen anything official from those guys?

You could do law school but no way could you do medical school.

I would advise against law school because so much of your career (initially) is based on your GPA in law school which is almost entirely based on how you did your first year.

Ha, I couldn't have done either. I'm amazed at the guys who do Engineering.

Don't you think Bob if he had connections somewhere that wouldn't be a big concern? Otherwise, I would pretty much agree with you.
