I’ll do my best to make this a daily preview/wrap-up throughout the season. The staples will be the Summit League slate, conference records vs. the Power 5/Gonzaga, and national key matchups/results.

My weekly "Field of 68" projection will be updated weekly every Monday both here and on the Golden Gopher Basketball Forum. Embrace the journey, start to finish!

DEEP THOUGHTS, BY BUZZ STUDLEY
I know it was a season opener when teams tend to be particularly sloppy, but I was highly unimpressed by Texas in its 75-60 loss to Duke. Early read on the Longhorns under 1st-year coach Sean Miller is a long season ahead.

DEEP THOUGHTS, BY BUZZ STUDLEY
Three days in and I’m already sick of non-competitive games. There need to be national-level mandates on non-conference scheduling, specifically to minimize Power 5 schools only scheduling each other + the dregs of Division 1, and/or for the mid-major crowd, the gross number of games they schedule vs. non-Division 1 opponents. If the big boys won’t play you (specifically speaking to traditionally strong mid-majors) and you want a fair sniff at an at-large bid (see Saint Mary's, San Francisco, Santa Clara schedules), play each other, and do it a lot.

Feast Week (starting Nov. 20) with all its glorious, bracketed tournaments that come with it cannot get here soon enough.
