St. Thomas in the Torvik (T-Rank) Rankings
UST (3-2, 2-3 ATS) jumped up 10 spots to #131 after Saturday's coast-to-coast road win over defending Ohio Valley Conference regular-season champion Southeast Missouri State.

Saturday Reach the Summit Recaps
St. Thomas 84, Southeast Missouri State 72: In picking up its first road win of the season, UST uncharacteristically committed 16 turnovers but never trailed after starting the game on a 10-0 run. Nolan Minessale paced five Tommies in double figures with 24 points, his fifth straight game with 20+. Minessale added a team-high 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Joining Minessale in double figures were Isaiah Johnson-Arigu (21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks), Jermaine Coleman (13 points, 3 of 6 from 3), Austin Herro (10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals), and Nick Janowski (10 points, 5 boards).

UTSA 84, Denver 79: DU fell to 1-3 despite 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists from Carson Johnson. Jeremiah Burke joined Johnson in double figures with 23. The duo connected on 4 treys apiece.

Texas 71, Kansas City 55: KC (1-3) lost its third straight and have yet to beat a Division 1 opponent. CJ Evans and Jayson Petty paced the Roos with 17 and 14 points, respectively. The Longhorns (3-1) held a 50-34 advantage on the glass.

North Dakota 76, UC-Riverside 74: UND (2-3) earned a nice road win and a season split with UCR behind 18 points from Greyson Uelmen. Also hitting double figures for the Fighting Sioux were Marley Curtis (15 points, 3 of 5 from 3, 3 steals), Zach Kraft (14 points, 4 of 7 from 3), and Eli King & Garrett Anderson with 10 points and 6 rebounds apiece. King also had a team-high 4 steals.

Omaha 90, Southern Utah 85: The Mavericks (1-3) picked up win #1 of the season behind 27 points and 4 assists from Tony Osburn. Grant Stubblefield chipped in with 15 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. In just 12 minutes of PT, Julian Margrave connected on all four of his treys for 12 points.

Belmont 83, Oral Roberts 60: Belmont (3-0) blitzed the Golden Eagles (1-3) in the second half after leading by only 3 at the half. Ty Harper paced three ORU scorers in double figures with 20. The Bruins shot a blistering 55% from the field while holding the Golden Eagles to 18-for-59 (30.5%) shooting.

Saturday Eye-Openers
Minnesota 72, Green Bay 65 (OT): The Gophers winning wasn't a surprise, but the fact it took 45 minutes to subdue an opponent St. Thomas throttled by 19 two nights earlier (and it wasn't really that close) was alarming. I remain 100% confident Niko Medved is the right guy for Gopher hoops (he should've been hired 4 seasons ago), but last night showed just how far the program must come simply to be a top-half team in the loaded Big Ten.

Maryland 89, Marquette 82: The severely short-handed Terps (3-1) went into Fiserv Forum and won their initial true road game of the 2025-26 campaign. In 17 minutes of playing time, former Gopher Pharrel Payne was 6-for-6 from the floor and scored 13 points before leaving with what looked like a serious injury (warning: don't watch the replay). A long season appears ahead for Shaka Smart's Golden Eagles.

Deep Thoughts, by Buzz Studley
After watching Minnesota struggle mightily vs. Green Bay last night, maybe it's St. Thomas that would have nothing to gain by playing the Gophers (instead of vice versa)?
