Notes from Coach Claeys and Limgrover's press conference 9/13/11

Thank you Nadine...Now you and others know why I "love" (meaning respect) you... You are the greatest, and I haven't even met you yet.

Go Gophers!!!

I do like that the staff has a perspective on the RedHawks, hopefully that will help (though obviously they had a coaching change too). Clearly the fact that they have been with Coach Kill is coming through, they all seem to know their roll and just keep going, which is a huge help no mater the situation, but definitely when situations like Saturday are a known threat. Definitely good that Mrs. Kill is keeping Jerry's focus on recovery. I'm sure he's itching to get back to it, but first and foremost, Coach Kill needs to look after himself right now.

Go Gophers, Beat the RedHawks!

I'd be curious why Claeys dialed up the blitzes in the 3rd but seemed dial them back in the 4th.

Are you quoting Coach Claeys as saying,
Everyone comes to see scoring, not to see 3-0 ballgames
If he said it, I will stand as one who was coached defense your goal is to shut them out, and if you do, you only need to get a safety to win. This is part of the problem Tracy.

Not in the notes, but:

Gopherhole:
RT @nsandell Claeys said LB Brendan Beal will participate in a few drills today. The knee is improving faster than expected #Gophers

Claeys said Beal has had swelling go down in his knee and will try to see if he can move around today. Hard to tell yet if it is a tear.

Did Beal bang his knee and possibly it was swelling from a hematoma?

I saw a clip somewhere, it may have been after Kill collapsed. Beals knee was wrapped and he had a heck of a time getting up off the ground in order to stand up. My first thought was that he would be out awhile given how slowly he was moving.

I believe because despite numerous blitzes, we still weren't getting to the qb. That's how I recall the first half looking.

I didn't think we blitzed that much in the first half, but I seem to remember we did in the third quarter and while we weren't getting to the QB, we were at least disrupting his rhythm and making him unload the ball before he wanted. That said, my impressions could be wrong.
