Northwestern kicks off spring practices

Who will start at quarterback for Northwestern in 2020? 5 thoughts as the Wildcats begin spring football practice.

The first day of spring practice is like Christmas morning for the media that cover Northwestern. Coach Pat Fitzgerald dished out presents and cookies in the form of nuggets and sound bites on his quarterbacks.

They've taken a step back on occasion under Fitz but nothing as dramatic as last season. That was an amazingly putrid offense. I am glad the Gophers got to play them on the road in a season when they had fallen that far. They have nowhere to go but up this season so it is nice to know the game with them will be in TCF Bank Stadium.

NW will be better than last year. They have to be. They have decent talent. Can't be that bad two years running.
