Hodger, do us all a favor and forward this list, and your previous one about BCS home games, to Mr. Maturi. With mandatory donations hovering over our heads, I for one will demand an upgrade in our home schedule. This is ridiculous.

I know the Gopher Fund mailer said that they will not apply to anything but upgrades for 2010-11, but you can be sure they will apply to everyone in 2011-12.

Maturi is a joke in so many ways, and scheduling is one of them. That list is embarrassing.

Great post SS. As a nearly 25 year season ticket holder- that just burns my hide. NDSU - that's the big one over three years. Good heavens. When is this department going to start thinking big?
Build the practice facility and schedule some decent games at home. You have to spend money to make money.

But what about Col. Steve Austin & Morgan State?

BGA, don't forget Stephen F. Austin and Morgan State this past season. Tubby's best friend (the one with the brown nose) was trumpeting those games all season as quality home games. The second-best team in the Southland Conference and the champion of the MEAC. Yes!!! That will get fans revved up for November and December when the nonconference schedule comes out in August. ... and those were our best home opponents.

To be fair, Wofford -- if reports are true they'll be visiting The Barn -- should be a quality opponent. I think they have 7 of their top 8 scorers returning, and they gave the Badgers all they could handle in the NCAA. Siena's nice, too, but we probably scheduled them a year or two too late. They lose quite a bit to graduation.

Maturi is a joke in so many ways, and scheduling is one of them. That list is embarrassing.

Sure, if Maturi had anything to do with scheduling. You want Tubby to be really pissed??? Then, let's watch Maturi waltz into Tubby's office and demand him to play a tougher non-conference schedule. Yeah, that's just what Maturi needs now.

The schedule is 100% on Tubby. It is his choice, with the help of Esposito (dir. bask. ops). At this point, Maturi has very little leverage in demanding anything from Tubby.

I mean on one side of it, we get posters who demand that total control be handed over to Tubby. Maturi should stay out of it, they say. Then, we have posters who say Maturi should go tell Tubby to schedule tougher. So, which is it? Do you want Tubby in control or do you want Maturi mandating things to him?

If you use 115 RPI we do better.

MINNESOTA (4)
#87 North Dakota State (2008-09)
#103 Morgan St
#114 Virginia
#115 Cornell

Wisconsin gets to count #71 Green Bay, #97 Valpo, and #98 Georgia

When you think about it, it makes sense that our home schedule might be a little weaker, considering how tough our road/neutral games have been.

Road/Neutral games
#4 Louisville
#12 Butler
#13 Texas A&M
#20 UNLV

#59 Florida State
#79 Portland
#99 Miami

This list is a little deceiving, but is a great point nonetheless. Many of these top RPI games are from the Big Ten/ACC matchup. Gpohers had so many lean years under Monson that when the ACC game was at Williams, the ACC opponent was a low RPI number

Good point cemba

That list is truly, truly sad and all of the season ticketholders have evry right to be outraged IMO. :(

Take away historic rivalries (KY and IN), in-state opponents (WI, IA have nice advantage there) and the ACC-Big Ten challenge as already pointed out, and it isn't that bad. The real issues seems to be the Gophers not playing some of the better D1 schools within a days drive (Creighton, IA State, Northern Iowa, Drake (who have been decent) the WI schools, etc).

This list is one more example of how the athletic department has taken advantage of season ticket holders.

To this point Tubby has still not chosen to schedule a home game against a school from a big six conference. The only one was the Virginia game in the ACC/Big Ten.

That's a joke.

Gophs vs. road/neutral top 100 (we're bottom half there, too)

Not a strong argument there. Since Tubby's arrival, you cite 7 games the Gophers have played on the road or at a neutral site vs. top 100 RPI teams. Keep in mind, every Big Ten school save for Northwestern pretty much plays in an exempt tournament every season. The Gophers aren't unique in getting quality opponents away from home.

If that's the argument, the Gophers' road/neutral games have been no tougher than anyone else's, not to mention they're in the bottom half among Big Ten schools playing top-100 RPI opponents away from home. To wit:

Illinois (11) -- Duke (7), Mizzou (10), Clemson (34), Gonzaga (36), Arizona (37), Mizzou (44), Tulsa (53), Oklahoma State (78), Arizona State (83), Maryland (85), Vandy (95)

Ohio State (11) -- Tennessee (1), West Virginia (4), Butler (12), Butler (17), Cal (20), Texas A&M (41), Syracuse (55), Cleveland State (63), Miami-Florida (65), Notre Dame (77), North Carolina (92)

Michigan (10) -- Duke (1), Kansas (1), Duke (7), Georgetown (8), UConn (8), Butler (17), UCLA (33), Western Kentucky (39), Marquette (50), Maryland (55)

Michigan State (10) -- North Carolina (3), UCLA (4), Texas (6), Oklahoma State (19), BYU (25), Texas (29), Texas (41), Maryland (55), Florida (56), North Carolina (92)

Indiana (9) -- Xavier (9), Pit (15), Wake Forest (16), Gonzaga (26), Illinois State (33), Ole Miss (61), Southern Illinois (62), Notre Dame (77), Kentucky (79)

Wisconsin (8) -- Texas (6), Duke (7), UConn (8), Maryland (24), Marquette (35), Gonzaga (36), Virginia Tech (61), Arizona (96)

GOPHERS (7) -- Louisville (4), Butler (12), Texas A&M (13), UNLV (24), Florida State (60), Portland (79), Miami-Florida (99)

Iowa (7) -- Northern Iowa (17), West Virginia (21), Texas (29), Wichita State (43), Boston College (60), Utah State (70), K-State (81)

Purdue (6) -- Oklahoma (5), Louisville (13), Tennessee (14), Clemson (19), Boston College (60), Davidson (69)

Northwestern (3) -- Butler (24), Notre Dame (49), NC State (98)

Penn State (3) -- Temple (8), Saint Joseph's (44), Rhode Island (68)

The idea that the Gophers can be "excused" for having a weaker home schedule because our road/neutral games are so much more difficult than everyone else's is pure fallacy.
