No U of M Baggo. WTF??

You can call it "Corn Toss" if you want but please if you’re going to fill the bags with "RICE" don't bother. The bags are supposed to be filled with corn. Throwing rice filled bags is like playing Horseshoes with rubber shoes, it becomes a kiddy game.

First, allow me to apologize for offending your sensibilities. I had no idea that using the giant box of rice in my pantry instead of going out and buying corn for filler would offend you so very, very much. Fortunately, I have never called the set up cornhole, so I don't have to worry about violation of any existing local, state or federal regulations regarding false advertising.

I know you can buy Decals from places that sell boards for around $20. If ya want to do a stencil just print out a block M and place it over some painters tape(on the board) and cut it out using an exacto knife. Stencils tend to have a little overspray problem.

Any Giant Block M's that are availabe to print?

I have to agree with pretty much everyone that it is very easy to make. I had spare wood laying around that I used for it and made a replica of a set my friend had. I did screw up the paint and it was too sticky until I used better paint to make it a little tougher. I'm actually going to sell me set and build a new one now that I have better wood working equipment.

Definitely call it bags and we always use house rules for scoring. Have to establish that beforehand to prevent crying afterwards. I always use 3 points for a holeshot, 1 point for the board with points getting cancelled for matches. Hole cancels hole and board cancels board. Have to hit 21 on the button and over goes back to previous score. Go to 11 on a shutout. Last scoring team goes first in the next round.

Just curious what everyone uses for distance between the boards. I've seen it all and we normally just throw the boards up, call it good enough, and start throwing.

Sounds like you play it the way my group of friends does.

27 feet. My friend made a chain that hooks on both ends of the boards to mark the distance.

It's officially cornhole, to avoid snickers and giggles people started calling it bags. I made my own, like many others. You end up with a much better board when your done. Ordered some sweet packer and viking decals of ebay. Also got official homemade bags off ebay too. it came out nice. I think the bags are exactly one pound of corn each. If your from Iowa you get 13 points for a hole shot and 18 points for landing on the board, if you miss all together you win!

FYI = there isn't a better tailgating/block party/drinking game out there, it is tons of fun, you can hold your beer in your other hand the whole time....

I can't believe they don't have a Gopher set. They have every Big Ten team except for NW. They even have NDSU and UND. BS.

Sent 'em a comment requesting a U of M game be made. It's ridiculous that there isn't. This actually worked for the FatHead company. They didn't have a Gopher set and enough people emailed and now there is.

I think this would be fun for tailgating in the fall.

done. i sent a request to them as well. love playing this game. it is absurd they don't currently carry a U of M set. let them know that they are missing a huge revenue opportunity as this game is quite big in minnesota and the overwhelming majority of people in minnesota are gopher fans. there will be a lot more people out looking for tailgating equipment like this now that we are coming back to campus.

buy it at the U of M book store

That"s where I got mine.

Thanks BNG and anyone else that sent a message. I know it's easier/cheaper to make my own but that's not the point. UND, NDSU, Iowa, Wisc all of them and we don't. I want a U of M set to be available out of General Principle.

exactly! honestly, that was also my primary motivation in sending them a comment! ;)

Is there a website that displays NCAA attire/other items sales in ranking order, similar to the NFL ranking team jersey?

That baggo site sure seems like someone from North Dakota runs it. Seems real regional, and why in the heck do you include UND or NDSU? Omitting Minnesota then makes sense.

The cornhole game I made turned out pretty good. I'm not gifted at this either. I printed out the M, and traced around it with the blue painters tape. Painted one maroon, and one gold. Then added some clear varnish. You can get all the "official" specs from that cornhole association site that was posted. The only really option you have, is whether to build 3 ft long or 4 ft long. I went with 3 ft, to help make it a bit easier to transport.

Bag material you can find at a craft store. I found some real beans at Walmart that were in packages of 16oz, which is the "official" weight of the bags. The cornhole site gives you nice little instructions on sewing the bags too.

Some one makes these. I got a set my girlfriend bought at Target last fall. So someone is Manufacturing the bags and board.

I had sent an email as well and I got this back right away...

"Thank you for you interest in BAGGO. The Best Backyard Ever! Unfortunately
we currently do not have the licensing for the University of Minnesota. We
are still working on licensing. If we acquire it, we will let you know via
email."

My guess is that NDSU and UND wanted less money for the licensing than Minnesota wanted.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornhole

The wikipedia article shows a picture of a cornhole board. It looks similar to a Baggo board, only the Cornhole board is larger and tilted at a steeper angle. The cornhole board reminds me of an outhouse door, I wonder if that is the origin of the name. I've heard an outhouse being called a cornhole, because corncobs were sometimes used in the past when toilet paper wasn't available. (Makes the cheap single ply stuff seem awful soft, I guess)

I've got boards I made....

I am not artistic at all. I would love a giant block "M" on the boards. Anybody have a decal or stencil I could use, or an idea to paint it?

I'm a perfectionist, so I'd rather have nothing than an "ok" looking M.

Buy the decals from Goldy's, then seal her up with some lacquer...

This is a great and funny read. I think Wiki supports my argument that Ohians (?) call it cornhole. I found nothing on Wiki for "Baggo" (not that Wiki is known for accuracy).

"There's four dead in Ohia..."

FYI, Menards has a plain colored set that often goes on sale for less than $30. It could be easily painted and modified. Target usually comes out with a Gopher version in the fall. I waited too long last year and they sold out...

Target usually puts up the Gopher tailgate endcaps up in late July or early August.

The reason they don't have a Minnesota one is that our licensing business is a joke. If you look at most licensed goods, Minnesota is always one of the late comers. I sent a note to Fossil when they started the collegiate watches asking why and was told they couldn't get the license. A buddy of mine tried to get me a fathead back when they first came out, and they told him the same thing.

The U can't seem to get their heads around that we'd like to by stuff with a gopher logo on it. Go figure.

Also, historcially it was called by what was in the bag (corn hole, bean hole, etc). In ohio, they used dried corn, or so the story goes. I nearly lost my lunch the first time my wife told me she had been out back playing cornhole with her dad, until I found out what she was talking about.
