I can't believe they don't have a Gopher set. They have every Big Ten team except for NW. They even have NDSU and UND. BS.

Sent 'em a comment requesting a U of M game be made. It's ridiculous that there isn't. This actually worked for the FatHead company. They didn't have a Gopher set and enough people emailed and now there is.

I think this would be fun for tailgating in the fall.

Cheaper to make your own. Just go to the hardware store buy a couple of 2x4's and 2 panels of wood. They sell 24x48inch panels at Home Depot. Find directions online to make the cornhole boards and than paint them maroon and gold.

Okay. Let's settle this. I've seen this game referred to as Baggo, Bags, Sacks, and Cornhole. Time for everyone to vote:

I vote Baggo. That's what all my U of M friends call it and I never heard it called anything different until recently. The first time I ever heard it called cornhole was when we went to see the Gophers play at tOSU last year. All the dumb-ars Buckeye fans called it cornhole. Since I can't stand the Buckeyes, I'm personally against calling it cornhole.

It reminds me of Toss Across, tic-tac-toe played with beanbags. You tossed your bean bag at the grid. Each of the nine squares could be flipped X, O or neither. Trickier than this Baggo.

+1. I made my own set and it really only cost me about $30 and a day of working on it. I bought a pair of 2' x 4' plywood pieces (as suggested by glovedgopher above), cut a hole in them that I deemed to be the proper size about 2/3 of the way up the boards, taped out designs and sprayed them Maroon and Gold (border around board, border around hole, block M in the center), and then just used some scrap wood to build legs. I've seen home-made sets where the legs even fold back into the body. A little extra money and time and that'd be no problem.

For the bags, I just bought some U of M fabric, stitched all but a small hole (with the fabric inside-out) with a sewing machine, flipped the fabric, filled the bags with rice using a funnel, weighed them on a dietary scale to get them close to the same weight and stitched up the last bit. I had a set up by the end of the weekend that still works (besides a few repair sticks to the bags) today, three years later.

I vote bags. That's what I've always called it and that's what I'll always call it. Sacks and cornhole both sound like the name of gay pornos.

I vote baghole or cornsacks. What does wikipedia call it.

My wife's friends from Ohio built me a nice set as a wedding gift. I'd definitely go with making it yourself or paying a handy friend who like building things to do it for you.

And I also vote for bags.

I've got boards I made....

I am not artistic at all. I would love a giant block "M" on the boards. Anybody have a decal or stencil I could use, or an idea to paint it?

I'm a perfectionist, so I'd rather have nothing than an "ok" looking M.

This is a great and funny read. I think Wiki supports my argument that Ohians (?) call it cornhole. I found nothing on Wiki for "Baggo" (not that Wiki is known for accuracy).

We've always called it bag toss, so I guess "bags" is close enough.

Ohioans only call it cornhole because that's what they do to each other at night while dreaming about beating Michigan.

It's Cornhole !!

First of all it's called Cornhole because it is Cornhole. Naming it "baggo" or "bag" or "bagtoss" or "bean bag toss" would be like renaming golf or baseball "stickball" because you never saw the game before and didn't know what to call it.
You can call it "Corn Toss" if you want but please if you’re going to fill the bags with "RICE" don't bother. The bags are supposed to be filled with corn. Throwing rice filled bags is like playing Horseshoes with rubber shoes, it becomes a kiddy game. The bags are filled with corn for a reason. If you don't know the reason then you aren't really aware of what the game is all about. If you throw rice filled bags you might as well go ahead and call it baggo because you're playing a different game.

I know you can buy Decals from places that sell boards for around $20. If ya want to do a stencil just print out a block M and place it over some painters tape(on the board) and cut it out using an exacto knife. Stencils tend to have a little overspray problem.

I always find it hilarious how passionate people get in defending the "rules" and "purity" of tailgating/drinking games. I don't mean that as a slam, I did this all the time when I was drunk in college (I tend to get overexcited and really adamant about being right when I'm drunk...ok, maybe when I'm sober too ;)). The next argument will be about scoring. Do you have to get exactly 21 points or can you win by going over? Etc, etc.

The funny thing is that there is no right or wrong here...not really. The only thing that really matters is are you having fun playing a tailgating/drinking game. If you play it really weirdly you'll have a tough time playing with other folks, but that's about the only problems you'll run into. :)

Yeah, its pretty funny to see people get fired up about this topic. I just hope my bags 100% corn and no fillers. I wouldn't want rice or beans in my bags.

"The Cornhole / Corn Toss match shall be played until the first team of contestants reaches (or exceeds) 21 points at the completion of an inning. The winning team does not need to win by two or more points." Per: OFFICIAL RULES OF CORNHOLE / CORN TOSS
Published By The AMERICAN CORNHOLE ASSOCIATION (ACA)

No argument. :)

Ha ha...I always solve the argument this way...Who's hosting the game (i.e. who's bags set is being used or who is providing the beer)? That person gets to pick. You can stay with those rules all day or go with winners pick the rest of the way. Seems to work out ok. :)

Until the losing team complains that they lost because "thats not how we usually play it."

Exactly right sour1729...It's just like eight ball...follow or call last pocket, slop or no slop... you have to be very specific with some of these "baggo" players. they all seem to have their own rules.
