I didn't realize that because of the NFL schedule there are no New Year's Day bowl games. That blows! Jan 1st is made for binging on alcohol, food, and college football!

The NCAA killed the January 1 Bowl experience long ago. It's become less and less relevant every year.

When Jan 1 is on a Sunday those bowl games are on Jan 2. Been that way as long as I can remember and I go back a long ways. Nothing new.

Since 1900, it happened every 6 years, then 5 years then 6 years again, then 11 years, respectively. Then it repeats the pattern. 2023, 2017, 2012, 2006, 1995, 1989, 1984, 1978, 1967, 1961, 1956, 1950, 1939, 1933, 1928, 1922, 1911 etc. So it averages to every 7.3 years, but never happens at 7 year intervals.

The 1961 Rose Bowl game, played on Monday, January 2, 1961, was the 47th Rose Bowl game. The #6 Washington Huskies defeated the top-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers, 17–7. It must be why we lost, all the Minnesota Bowl fans were messed up with the game on Monday the 2nd. Thank God the game was on January 1 the next year. We won.

You get to relax again until 2017. I would start planning right now. Today.
