Nick Fuller has received offer from Minnesota - UPDATED 8/11: Commits to Nebraska

His offers include Marquette, Butler, Creighton, Northern Iowa, and Nebraska.

Go Gophers!!

The Badgers have seen a lot of Fuller and did not offer. Similar to the Gophers and Dearing. I hope the Badgers get Dearing and the Gophers get Fuller and that they are both really successful.

I have a better chance of playing basketball at Marquette next year then Fuller does. That offer means nothing.

Another bad offer. Hope he says no. I wonder if the reports I've seen of offers the last three years were even true. I read were we offered Estan Tyier along with a big kid from Cloquet a few years ago. Shelby Moats also. I'm starting to think most reported offers are bogus/

Go into Wisconsin and get players Marquette and Wisconsin don't want. See Devron Bostick and Wally Ellerson. What are we a MAC school?

Thry offered Dearring at least Ellenson had other high major offers.

I hope people keep ripping the Wally EllENson signing. I am confident that he'll be a good player for us and possibly a fan favorite. Just because Wisconsin didn't want him doesn't mean he isn't good. Wisconsin signs our scraps all the time, sometimes they blossom (Jordan Taylor) sometimes they don't (Brusewitz). Wisconsin and Minnesota are completely different programs and systems. Ellenson's athleticsim will be much more valuable in Tubby's system than Bo's.

I think Wally will be fine at the U of M and would have loved to see him in a Wisky uniform, same goes with Fuller. But you saying that we sign scraps too and that sometimes they work and sometimes they dont, is ridiculous. Jordan Taylor, Jon Leuer, Jared Berggren, Kammron Taylor, etc all worked, your example of a guy that averaged 5ppg and 5rpg for a tough UW team does not say much either for the opposite.

Leuer and Kammron were Badgers before the Tubby era began, so I don't count them. Tubby admits letting Jordan go without a fight was a mistake. I'll give you Berggren too.

So, to recap, The Minnesotans the Badgers have gained commitments from since Tubby took over:

Jordan Smith (Walk-On)
Mike Bruesewitz (Passed on by Tubby in favor of Rodney Williams, Royce White, and Trevor Mbakwe)
Riley Dearing

Damn you Bo!!!!!!!!!!!

Both of these players committed before Tubby was hired, that is his point.

Both Taylor and Berggeren committed to Wisconsin before Tubby was hired, I would not call them players Tubby has lost, perhaps he could have pushed to try and get them to change their mind but you really are getting to the table late in that case.

I can't believe we still have posters that don't realize that the Taylor commitment was well before Tubby took over the Gophers. I am much more concerned about how recruiting is going today...we've got to replace Trevor and Rodney in this class and don't look to be in on many kids who are of that caliber.

Yeah, when Tubby arrived, recruiting was great. I have no beef with him in regards to any players he didn't get early on. Right now though, it's inconsistent to say the least. But I think part of that is after everything blew up in his face with his first couple classes, it's been harder for him to net these 4 star kids. He's gonna have to show he can take a team through a tourney again before he'll be able to consistently get these kids. The Tubby name gets him in the door, but it's gonna take on-court success in the NCAA tournament to get the ink on the paper.

@Evan_Flood: Sun Prairie (Wis.) 2013 SF Nick Fuller says he's down to Minnesota and Nebraska. #gophers #huskers

Go Gophers!!

But Nebraska has a practice facility (sarcasm).

I really am tired of the whole conversation about who recruits better in what states..... All most people care about is who wins and who can make a decent run in the ncaa - not the nit!

The past few years bucky badger has been much better....for the first time in a long time minnesota has a chance to have a good year. Im afraid if the gophs cant pull together a good run this year, the program will really be in trouble.

It seems like this staff lets the other schools fight over the prized guys while they wait their turn and go after kids with less competition. Tubby's name really should go further with these kids, makes me think the assistants aren't very strong in the recruiting department. The more successful programs change assistants quite frequently, mostly to bring in guys who have been successful recruiting elsewhere. Adding a Dane Fife (MSU) or Greg Paulus (OSU), guys who were highly recruited and know that game, seems to be a trend. Considering how good of an X's and O's guy Tubby is, his staff should be recruiter-heavy.

^^ although Paulus is just tOSU's video coordinator.

I think Tubby's X's & O's are an issue in getting certain recruits to Minneapolis.

From an outsider it looks like:

A) Old time defense first coach- my way or the highway type.
B) Questionable offensive style in view of modern players
C) Not an aggressive recruiting staff

Therefore they end up looking for guys who are not as hotly pursued who they think they can meld together into their system. Similar to how a mid-major might do it.

Just my view- no proof.
