Let's show our Minnesota nice and say some positive things about Iowa.

I'll start.

- They produce tasty corn and Damn Gina, I love me some Corn Pops.

- Their farting pigs produce methane gas, which in turn has heated most of southern MN for years.

- Children of the Corn was a great F'in movie. I hope conditions in rural IA have improved since then.

- When I get back home from IA, I have a hard time adjusting to modern technology.

Now it's your turn, and remember to be nice.

Their Amish population makes high-quality furniture

Neither Gary, Indiana nor Detroit are there

The wind farm just off of I35 is really cool

I like how it's a part of the USA and depite that I'm still proud to be an American.

Iowa State fans are always friendly.

(Does this count?)

Oh, and Iowa never joined the Confederacy!

That isn't a wind farm MBA. It's just meant to look like one. They're really fans to draw fresh air in.

Children of the Corn was set in Nebraska, not Iowa.

Field of Dreams was set in Iowa, however. That's something nice:)

The coolness level of the state doubled when I moved here!

They took in my hillbilly relatives. I'm not sure if that lowered or raised the collective intelligence of the state.

Seriously, though....their kids are fairly smart. Good, humble folk. They have that one lake. ....Did someone already say they weren't in the confederacy?

It's like Wisconsin without the cannibals and serial killers.

I love how on a Saturday you can find some Gophers playing football there.

There are three good things that come out of Iowa... I-35 and I-80, and my sister in law.

They have an ice rink in the Coralville Mall, that's kinda cool.

Solid Midwestern state, like Nebraska. Lots of good small colleges and two fine universities. Des Moines is an attractive urban area with a great downtown and adjacent oldtown area, plus the capitol grounds, etc. Decent restaurants there, too, plus growing arts scene.

Iowa football has been a premium program since Fry arrived and had many good years before that. They have had a decided edge over us in football since '79, and we have to remedy that.

*There aren't any hills to climb.
*The women are homely and don't look you in the eye.

There is some good hunting (deer, pheasant) there.

Iowaegians know where to find good snowmobiling and it ain't in Iowa!

They're not as bad of drivers as most of the people in the Twin Cities. In fact, they actually seem to understand the zipper method.

Is that the same zipper method that was used in the dome bathroom stall last year? :D

You can play roulette & craps at their casinos.

Kum & Go

Lots of bars to choose from when in Iowa City.

Lots of USHL teams

1) The Loess Hills in western Iowa are beautiful natural area
2) The Okoboji lakes area is both a nice place to fish/boat in the summer/early fall, and a fun place to party at night
3) Iowa City on a Friday or Saturday night is "lively"
4) Their football staff is awful good at recruiting Minneapolis-St. paul kids down there to play for them.

I don't like #4 at all. Tim Brewster, I would like for this to change!

5) The Iowa football coach does a real good job, without doing a lot of hyperbole/self-promotion.

I would actually like to see Tim Brewster emulate him more. That is, "More victories. Less hype."

I like that they exist solely to make the rest of us (outside of Wisconsin, of course) feel better about ourselves.

You can bike across the entire state without once having to climb a hill.

The state is chalk full of senior citizens. Oldest population of any state in the union. It's like one big assisted-living community with plastic-wrapped couches and jars filled with stale candy. Everyone loved their grandparents so Iowa has that going for them.

If you stay on I-80 or I-35, you'll find little traffic. Can usually make it through Iowa pretty quickly. However, venture off those interstates and you'll undoubtedly get stuck behind some farm equipment.

There's little need to abbreviate Iowa. It's quick to write.

Can't think of much else. Hopefully my kind words can be an uplifting moment in the day of an Iowiegan.

It's pretty easy to spell.

Not many pesky trees to get in your way.

It borders Illinois, where you can get a real Slurpee.

If anyone went to the corn maze by Canterbury, there's those pig races. Pretty cool.
