Nice analysis, but I really want to know what Jshowers thinks

Stave is at the combine. Interesting.

Must be this:

STRENGTHS Looks the part with good size and a pretty, over-*the-*top delivery. Plays in pro-*style offense and is experienced under center. Steps and drives the intermediate throws and ball comes out of his hand with a tight spiral and heat on it. Possesses above average arm strength and was asked to make NFL throws in his offense. Rhythm passer able to throw with timing. Comfortable and efficient on roll outs and bootlegs.
WEAKNESSES Accuracy and ball placement are hit or miss. Throws at or slightly behind moving targets rather than throwing them open.. Below average pocket mobility. Shows signs of pocket panic dropping eyes at early signs of pressure. Can't win with his legs. Plays with blinders and will make throws with no awareness of safeties lurking. Poor decision making and accuracy on third downs attempting to fit throws into impossible spots.
SOURCES TELL US "He's got the physical tools that are going to get him drafted and give him a shot with a team. Coaches who are just seeing him are going to be more excited about him than the scouts who know him." -- NFC executive

sounds like we'll see him at rush hour on 394 on his way home from job at RBC wealth management. W sticker in play.

Looks like Tarzan, Spun it like Jane . . . to a moving target.

BBC ran a 4.47 40 to take a Top 10 finish amongst DBs at the combine.

Looks like BBC will finish just outside the top 10 for CBs and Murray ran a 4.5 on his first and 4.61 on his second to finish in the mid-teens.

It will be interesting to see how BBC does in the agility drills. His knee obviously affected his play in 2015 and interested coaches will be sure to wonder if that will be an ongoing issue.

Unless Boddy-Calhoun lays an egg the rest of the day looks like both will be drafted. What round is an open question.

If Stave can get an invite...not outside the realm of possibility Mitch can also if he builds on latter half of 2015 and finishes strong. Don't laugh...some are worse in some respects and Mitch can put up a display when he's on. He needs to tune up his pocket work with his new team of QB gurus and his line needs to help him out and his WRs need to use the hands. Don't Stop Believin'...

Take it away Mr. Perry

Not sure about next year's class but I would say Stave getting an invite is an indication of just how weak this year's QB crop is.

Edit - According to walterfootball.com Mitch is the #8 QB for next year and they project him in round 3-5. I am not as down on Mitch as some on this board but he does not look like an NFL QB to me.

You realize that there are 1-4 QB's that pan out in each class? And by pan out take a meaningful snap.

So you have Mitch at #8?

I agree with you. Each year roughly 10-12 QBs are drafted, and the majority are obviously not starter material for various reasons. Getting invited to the combine doesn't mean one will be drafted, and let's be real, Leidner makes really bad decisions at times and doesn't have great pocket mechanics. I'll never forget the intentional grounding throw into the cheap seats at CSU that made me laugh out loud. He's a bit of a headcase, but he can play very, very well at times. He is also getting better IMO. He will need to have a great year, and the stars are aligning for just that schedule-wise. How many top defenses last season, how many of those on the road?

Campbell a fast project.

Should Vikings take a flyer on OLB Campbell? Let him learn behind Greenway for a year. Probably get him in what 5-6 round? He would be good on special teams with that speed.

Eric Murray had a nice combine as well. 4.49 40, 39.5" vertical, good agility scores. Nothing stopping him from being a 2nd or 3rd rounder now.

Actually disagree. He didn't have a 'bad' combine but it wasn't great. He measured at 5'10", not the 6' he'd been listed as. His 4.49 is fine but not attention grabbing. As a guy seen as a press man corner running a fairly average time along with average height isn't really doing him any favors. I do believe that he plays both bigger and faster than his workouts showed as size and speed were never issues for him despite essentially playing on an island for 3 full seasons. Just saying I don't think he did anything to improve his stock in the combine, at least not with the measurement drills

He measured 5' 10 5/8", which was already know to all the scouts because he was measured at the senior bowl. His vertical and relatively long arms will negate some height concerns, and are what allowed him to "play bigger" than his listed size.

In regards to his 40 being average, he was tied for 14th out of 32 CBs who ran, and better than the NFL average of about 4.55. So better than average. And he did well in other drills too, 3rd in vertical, 7th in broad jump, 5th in the shuttle, 15th in 3 cone, 15th in bench press. When you're average in your worst drill and top 5/10 in your best drills, that's a good combine.
