Trevor, Rodney, Eliot and Mo (great front line) Hollins (better shooters next year)
Julian at full strength and the Rice lake kid lighting it up from day one.

You are still probably a bottom half of the Big Ten team, unfortunately, unless Dre completely transitions to a point guard first role and a consistent scorer emerges. If you add a Willie Burton or Bobby Jackson to the mix, then you are on to something.

Great. A new thread saying the same thing that is in every thread in this forum. I can tell, the MN basketball fans just can't wait for this group to really pull it all together next year. The excitement in the fan base is overwhelming. Get your tickets early!!

You are right - need for a dynamic scoring guard is the biggest wish.

sadly thats a pipedream, but if it somehow comes true, there would be no excuse not to make the tournament next year

Next year's ideal wish...

A shovel in the ground to start the new practice facility.

I think you're 2 posts are very close, but can't imagine the Beast coming back. Dre and Joe will shoot better next year. Clem often talked about it takes young shooters a year or so. Ariel, Townsend etc,. Sometimes I feel like I'm in the minority, but I can't wait til next year.

Go Gophers!

My top wish is that we hit our stride in February, not December. Won't be so concerned about losing a few games in November/December, but one way or another we have to start fixing that February/March record.

C'mon, this is no different than all the others ripping constantly on Tubby. You seem to have no problem with those threads but because you don't agree with this one, you're going to mock the person who started it.

Every once in awhile you make some good points in your posts, but then you come back with something like this. We get it. You don't think Tubby is a good coach, the Gophers have very little talent, and there is very little to hope for in the future.

The difference is that I don't start new threads to say the same thing. I respond to posts. There is no reason for starting new ones when the ones we have are good enough. If I am responding to the same thing, that means people are posting the same thing, right? I am hardly the only culprit repeating ideas or opinions. I see the same excuses for Tubby in thread after thread and you see the same old Tubby must go stuff. What's the difference?

Bottom half of Big Ten with Trevor, Mo and more experience from the younger guys? Whatever Jamello.

When you grow up hopefully you will see the difference. At your age it's difficult to see.

Rodney Williams needs to commit himself this offseason to getting ready for his NBA audition. If he decides to be a leader both in the locker room and in the offense next year we could be VERY good. Rodney needs to facilitate on the offensive end and be our go-to guy. Welch is a solid 2nd option for scoring and will be a senior. I'm expecting good things from Eliason as well, he's been a bright spot a lot of the year. Also with Mo and Trevor for depth I like our bigs better than this year, if we can stay healthy of course.

While Tubby is definitely on the hotseat its reasonable to basically use next year as a "do or die" situation. I genuinely think Tubby has been unfortunate here with a lot of things, I'm certainly no apologist of his but he got hosed on the handling of some things. Also he has had some coaching shortcomings that have contributed to our woes undoubtedly. Be that as it may next year is put up or shut up time for Tubby, and he needs to put up some serious Ws to keep his job. The new AD isn't going to give Tubby the axe after this season anyways.

This team is capable of some pretty impressive things next year. I would feel good about a top 2 finish in the B1G and a Sweet Sixteen. Its not outrageous to think that this team could be that good next year if people improve, especially offensively. I *could* see an elite 8 maybe, but we'd need a lucky break or two to go our way (as opposed to having our luck the last 3 years).

I like you optimism, but I think you are a year too early. Let the core become juniors. Can't wait til next season!

Ah the irony. Only thing missing is your whining about what a martyr you are.

If what the OP said happens, no way we miss the tourney. But this is Gopher hoops, so likely little of that will happen and we'll languish around the bubble (if even).

It'd be nice to have a year just be normal, where major pieces aren't either getting hurt or leaving. That's about the only thing I wanna see next year. I think the results will take care of themselves if that happens.

Oh yeah, and SOMEONE needs to establish themselves as a leader next year, or else we're gonna continue to see the blown games.

Great. Another thread you try to hijack.

Agreed. While I hope for a tourney birth next year, I think I agree with GW that it will be more difficult than expected.

My goals for next year:

No injuries and especially no significant transfers

Consistent minutes as soon as big 10 play starts or major non conference games (I.e the tournament)

Tubby showing some major emotion.

Actually pressing and running. I want to see "40 minutes of hell" type basketball

An improvement on our past two current years (not hard) but show that their is now an upward trajectory. We've been at the bottom of the curve the last two years, show movement back up followed by more improvement the next year and we can talk a nice and big extension.

I doubt you'll see "40 mins of hell" basketball, that's hard to do in the grinding B1G style of play. But yes, hopefully with the guards having another year under their belt, we can actually press a little more often without giving up touchdown passes cause a guy slips behind us, as seemed to happen a tad too frequently.

I think it is definitely possible in the B1G. I know others are skeptical with good reason, but if you execute it well enough I see no reason you can't press hard and fast enough to force WI turnovers and push it even on them. While its not 40 minutes of hell, MSU has always been able to have a more fast paced system.

Still missing key ingredient: competent coach

Look up the definition of martyr. I think you might want a different name to call me.

Random House: "a person who seeks sympathy or attention by pretending to or exaggerating pain". Seems to fit you very well but then so does, "insufferable, immature prick," but I'd never use that.

LMAO. Have to love these Tubby supporters. Full of "what ifs" and "just waits". Five years and no top half finishes for their hero. But just wait. Look at the talent!

You can call me an a$$hole or an immature prick but I'm not the one resorting to namecalling and incorrect labelling.

I will simply say Tubby supporters are having a difficult time admitting they were wrong and are looking for some hope that he can salvage something to make them right. I care more about the program than I do Tubby Smith.

You're right, Minnesota Gopher fans talking about Minnesota Gopher basketball really gets old. I wish there was some place these idiots could go talk about Gophers hoops without bothering us all the time.
