For fun, what do you think we finish next year?
How do you think beating USC would change the landscape of the season?

6-6 and I would be very happy with that. We should win 3 out of 4 of the non conference games.
This is not a prediction but only my hope.

Kill gets another shot at Miami of Ohio but with upgraded talent.

Hope: 8-4, 4-4 in BT. 2 trophy wins (LBJ and Floyd)
Think: 6-6, 3-5 in BT. One trophy win (Floyd)

I'm optimistic about next year, but I am content to let expectations remain low, so we can fly under the radar. Beating USC wouldn't just change the landscape, it would warp space and time. I think the last two games of the season have shown us that there is more talent on this team than we had realized. People are warming up to the Kill hire the more they look into him. The national media seems to think we made a good hire, the local media is beginning to catch up. I'm looking forward to the Spring game, I think that attendance will be better than it has been for a while, people are going to want to get a peek at the Kill regime.

I think that 6-6 is not unreasonable, but I won't complain if we don't get that in year 1.

I'm optimistic about next year. I don't want to predict anything record wise, but I think the defense could make a huge step forward. If there are not any transfers and players get coached up they might be a pleasant surprise. I'm kind of excited seeing Stoudermire (sp) play a full year on D. He is already the biggest hitter in the secondary and has shown his knack for making plays!

On offense I think it will be much of the same. We'll miss Weber's deep ball, but MG will be able to open up the field with his running ability and shouldn't be any worse than Weber on short passes.

I'm going in expecting about 5-7. 3 non-conference wins and two BT wins.

If everything clicks, I still think the ceiling for the first year is 7-5 and that would be EVERYTHING clicking. That's .500 in the Big Ten and a bowl game in the first year with players learning new schemes and coaches working with new players.

A win against USC would pay huge dividends. Gray would have to have a huge day.

USC L - I just can't envision us winning on the road Kill's first game.
NMSU W - We will kill them.
Miami W - It's a home game against a MAC team.
NDSU W - Kill won't be caught off guard. It will be a low scoring affair, but I think by this time Gray will be comfortable under center. Kill has coached against Bohl before, which is good.
Michigan L - I think it will be close, but Michigan will have too many players.
Purdue W - Coach Kill proves whose mustache is better.
Nebraska L - Like Michigan, they'll be too much for us.
Iowa W - Iowa will be rebuilding next year.
MSU L - Dantonio has them in a better place. If this were here, I think we'd win.
Wisconsin W - They lose a lot and maybe even a lot more if Clay goes pro and coaches move on.
NW W - We repay the courtesy and win in Evanston.
Illinois W - We finally put Zook out of his misery and all the Illini fans lament letting Kill get away.

There you have it 8-4, but at worst 5-6. My optimistic 8-4 prediction all depends on whether or not Gray develops into the type of special player we think he'll be.

I think we have a shot at hanging with USC depending on what #5 comes up with in the off-season. I think he is a game changer unlike anything we have seen here since losing to Indiana in 2000. I better run my thoughts past my sources with some actual football knowledge just to be sure.

The last two games of the year really left me thinking positively about next year. I do not want to claim a specific record because a hard fought 3-9 with no blowouts would be an improvement over this year.

I've got 6-6 (3-5) at first pass. Worst-case scenario is that our QB situation is much more dire than we think and we go 3-9 again. Best-case is that Gray improves his passing in the offseason, our offensive line protects well to start the year, and our returning defensive players all improve from where they were at the end of the Iowa game - 8-4.

Regardless, I think the end of this year gave us a little taste of what our players can do when given the opportunity to be properly coached. Jerry Kill is a proper coach.

I don't know quite enough about what Kill truly does with this schemes and stuff to know if we have a roster that fits it well, or whether we're gonna see some growing pains.

A big piece of this is if Gray shines like he could in what I know of Kill's offensive system, then we could really surprise some people, seriously. I'd have to think, regardless of what Kill does defensively though, it HAS to be better than last year, or at least on par with it.....I hope. A lot of unknowns with this squad, but there's a lot of returning players, there's reason to believe this team is capable of at least a bowl game, if not more.

This past year I was apprehensive to predict a record, mostly because I wasn't feeling too good about the 2010 season.Well, I would have loved to have been wrong.

Jerry Kill is not the type of coach that requires 2-3 years to wipe the slate clean and implement
a whole new program. He takes what's there and builds upon it. He often gets results fairly
quickly, even in year one.

I would not be surprised one bit if the Gophers are playing in a bowl game next season- not at all.

No idea what the final record will be, but if the players Brewster brought in are as talented as their recruiting rankings and the new coaches can coach them up in the spring and fall the team could be 5-1 heading into a home game with Nebraska!

5-8 is near impossible unless bowl eligibility rules change.

14-0.

Year 13 of my undefeated prediction. One of these years it's gonna happen!

If USC continues their current slide, and one more year of sanctions and jury-is-still-out coaching looks shaky... that game may be a lot more winnable than it appears. They tied with Washington this year in the PAC10. Meanwhile, as happy as I was with the victory over Iowa... I think it will be a tall order to beat them again next year. I have no feel for the 2011 Gophers yet, and many things can change, but at this early date I would say I'd be very happy with a .500 team at 6-6.

Our O-line is going to be brand new with the exception of LT & LG. New QB. Deep pool of RB, Solid returning TE, thin at WR........we had better be able to run the ball, especially early.

The D could be good. Tons of returning players. D-Line is all back, LBs will be better with the addition of Beal. The secondary is a big question mark....but it has to get a little better, doesn't it? Stoudemire, Carter & Vareen return at CB, Manuel at S......there are fewer holes on D next year than usual. With 3 NC wins, we should be able to get to 6 total and get into a bowl game.

I'm thinking 5-7 , maybe 6-6.

If Kill turns this team into a bowl eligible team his first year that would be huge. Realistiaclly, 4-5 wins is probably were this team is at right now, talentwise.

I believe we could definitely go bowling next year. 3 non-conference win against NMSU, Miami (OH), and NDSU. I will say I think the Miami game may be a little tougher than most people think. Three big ten wins is doable with possible wins against Michigan, Purdue, Iowa, Northwestern, Iowa, and possibly Wisconsin.

I guess I'd be happy with modest improvement in year 1 of the new regime. That would be a heck of a lot better than Brewster decreasing wins by five in his 1st year.

2 Nonconf wins and 2 BT wins would be a minimal improvement.
3 Nonconf wins and 2 BT wins would be be modest improvement.
3 Nonconf wins and 3 BT wins would - in my opinion - be an improvement to get excited about.

At best you will be 4 wins 8 losses next year.

Just a troll. Logged on with a similar name last night to say something inflamatory. Banned already perhaps? Now a new 1st post with a similar login name.

Ironically, despite the troll, 4-8 wouldn't surprise me. I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't be surprised. I think 6-6 is the most likely with anything better being really good news. Just too early to say.

"Just too early to say" is the correct answer, other than saying we should go 3-1 in the non-conference.

Regarding USC, their home opener this season was against Virginia, led by first-year coach Mike London, who took over a team that went 3-9 (2-6) the previous year. The Cavs gave the Trojans all they could handle in a 17-14 loss.

To be fair to him 4-8 would be only a game worse then this year's Longhorns achieved.

NMSU and NDSU look like wins to me, other than that I'm not sure I see another W on the schedule. It's early yet though so we'll have to see how things unfold.
