Reusse says Brew asked to resign Monson-style. Supposedly will let U know tomorrow AM.

Interesting. No real difference between fired/resigned (he'll still get his $$) but I assume if he resigns he's not coaching out the season.

That's why I posted it. I assume Monson-style means getting 10 minutes to clean the office (what happens to the Pasadena Grass?), get escorted off the premises, and the locks getting changed.

If this is seriously how the U handles this situation we are worse off than I thought. Why on Earth would we waste all of these recruits that have already committed? If we are to replace Brew with someone isn't it safe to assume the coach is still coaching AND being somewhat successful somewhere else? So that means this coach is coaching somewhere and won't be able to recruit for us until their season is over.

So I ask the dumb*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#s like Doogie and Souhan and Reusse to really answer some tough questions with some legitimate answers instead of starting some token head coaching candidate lists which my one year old son can create.

*Insert obligatory "Tony Dungy will come riding back to save the day" quote*

recruits? it's already been wellablished by recruiting sites and top recruits have started avoiding Brew like the plague, this might actually help

Oh yeah, please elaborate. You have no idea what you are talking about. Brew has put together a nice class so far. Nothing spectacular but nothing close to lame duck recruiting. Its this sort of perspective that pisses me off. No ability to speak for yourself.
Is your middle name Doogie?

You're a little angry tonight, huh?

Yes I am MBA Guy....sorry. I'm just tired of it. I'm not happy being 1-6, but some of the crap flying around is getting out of hand. I'll take a deep breath and try and get over it.

One way or the other, a new coach would be in place by signing day. There doesn't really exist a possibility - given Brew is replaced - that kids would sign in February believing they'll be playing for Brew at Minnesota.

And, no, it isn't a given that a potential new hire is coaching and having success somewhere else right now.

I'm tired of a Snake Oil Salesman coaching our team in to the ground.
I am sick and tired of the same Snake Oil Salesman sticking with a QB who has racked up most of his stats in the garbage minutes of the games.
I am sick and f'n tired of our Football program being the butt of national jokes.
This has been such an Epic Fall From Success that I expect sexual orientation questions to come up as a source for the screwed up play (ala Women's BB).

How does Brew coaching out the string help keep the recruiting class together? They still know he's gone. And anyone who hasn't committed yet isn't going to now. This year's recruiting class is 100% about how quickly the new hire is brought on board after his season ends and how many of the guys he can convince to stay/who he brings with him from his current school. I also hope that whatever assistants are retained do what they can, but there isn't much they can do. I don't get your anger here.

This is the same nonsense logic that filled this board at the end of last year. People argued that recruiting would be hurt if Brewster were fired. I am sorry, but at some point the recruiting argument becomes irrelevant. Brewster's continued presence is doing far more damage to the program than having a below average recruiting class due to a coaching vacancy. Hell...at this point, his absence should help recruiting.

Agreed, this is a monumental night for Gopher Football. We get rid of this clown and possibly Maturi later next year. Couldn't be better. Recruiting will be a little tough at first but as long as we retain the Olson kid and the two lineman brothers from Illinois I'm not all that upset. You will get some resentment from the delusional fans that for some reason appreciated Brewster's insincere BS, but that's expected. We became the laughing stock of the Big Ten and that's where Brewster brought us too. I love the administration stepping in and ending this farse and shell of a footbal program.

Can we get the students to start the "Bench Weber" chants?

Agree with all except that this is 'monumental.' Wisconsin had a monumental night. We're just enjoying that the blackest of the night is passing.
