Minnesota At New Mexico State To Be Shown On Fox Sports North Via Tape Delay

The University of Minnesota Athletic Department announced today that its Sept. 7, 2013, football game vs. New Mexico State will be shown twice via tape delay on Fox Sports North following the Saturday game in Las Cruces, N.M. The first tape delay airing is at 10 a.m. (CDT) Sunday, Sept. 8, while the second is Monday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. (CDT).

The game can also be viewed live on home computers and mobile devices by using BTN2Go, which is an app run by the Big Ten Network. The game will also be broadcast live locally on KFAN-AM and can also be heard for free on GopherSports.com.

Set your DVR's. And for you tail-gaters, start mixing those Bloody Mary's for the 10:00am Sunday showing.

That sucks. I'm glad I have Altitude 2.

Heard Teague at least twice yesterday (Am1500 & 108 I think) talking about this issue. Said that the broadcast rights were owned by the BTN, that we get a lot of money from them and we can only push them so far...and that they'd be announcing where you could see the game very soon.

He sounded really defensive, just didn't guess he had so much to be defensive about.

Yeah, it will be just like the old days. Listen to the game on the radio and have the Iron Mining of Minnesota bring us the game on a tape delay basis on Saturday night.

- Except it's on a Sunday.
- Dave Moore has long since passed.
- So have about 30 years.
- Most of us are paying for TV now.

The Gopher/NMSU game is the last remnant of the UNC fiasco. Maybe Teague can then finally put it to bed.

Or put it on a tape-delay basis at least.

Stating again what a fricking fiasco the UNC buyout was that resulted in us playing an away game at NMSU where it wont be on live TV and Comcast doesn't support BTNtogo. What a joke. Norwood has to do better and stop being such a bitch about his screw ups. Admit it, you blew this entire deal. You made a decision you were completely out of your depth to make not understanding how the buyout would be perceived, the changes to lessor talent to "protect" a bowl chance and now compounded by not being on live TV.

This sucks.

I believe Comcast recently added BTN2Go. If you look at the listing of providers Xfinity is listed.

Yup...I have Comcast and they added BTN2Go earlier this month. Checked in with the Indiana game last night. Can't wait to watch it on my phone this week.

This is embarrassing. I hope my BTN2GO is not tweaking out like the last time I tried to use it...

They do...I watched most of last night's game on BTN2Go once I discovered that my local Indianapolis affiliate had decided to show the IU-ISU game on ALL THREE of the BTN channels. WTF?! SO yeah, moral of the story is that most people will be able to watch the game live via either Altitude 2 (DirecTV) or BTN2Go (Comcast). Not ideal, but better than nothing.

I unlocked Comcast Xfinity on my BTN iPad app this week. I'll try watching a game tomorrow to see if it's watchable.

I hope he know what he talking about. the Broadcast rights for this game is are own by the home team, which in this case is New Mexico State. BTN doesn't have anything to do with this game period. They had to get a agreement from NMSU to put this game on B102go thing.

Yeah, thats' the way I understood it too, but he was pretty damn insistent about it. Let's say NMSU can put the game anywhere the please but if a Big Ten team is trying to get somebody besides the Network designated by NMSU to carry the game on a secondary basis, maybe that's where they butted heads with the BTN.

With all due respect gophersfan on this one I'll go with Norwood's description if not his results on this one.

Dont believe a thing Norwood said. He need to read up on TV contracts, beacuse he sure doesn't know this one. BTN only own the rights to home games, not road games, he sure need someone to tell him that. I'm not blasting you, but Norwood need some papers to read.

Understood, he might not even disagree with that. He kept saying that "we don't want to push them" to far on this. Maybe that meant that the BTN wasn't happy about FSN Plus and we backed down and told NMSU to do the same. Just don't know.

Why is BTN2Go, essentially BTN online, able to air the game?

What the hell is BTN going to do to the U? Not broadcast our future games? Make sure we are almost never on prime time? Stop posting our scores on their nightly shows? Eff them. This isn't hopscotch, grow a set and stand up. Total BS...my honeymoon period is over on this guy. The UNC thing continues to just suck, where is our primary sponsor for anything towards the $190 million? What have you done since you have been here?

I am renaming him Norwood Brewster until he does one thing other than talk about everything!

What the hell is BTN going to do to the U?

Umm...it's the BTN that would have to shell out the dough to air the game in the first place. Paying that sum to air Gophers-Aggies? Yeah, great business decision.

Way to take a stand!

Serving Bloody Mary's on a Sunday Morning is forbidden. However, Pork Chop in a Glass is allowed.

This should be on live local tv. End of story.

Why can't one of the low power locals (29 or 45) pick it up for a small fee?

Well the whole thing sucks - but what hasn't since the BTN took over? Too many games online - too few live TV games - not what they promised when the network was about go live. Not just talking about football - but basketball as well. At least Altitude has it live.

I really have no idea how this whole BTNtogo thing works, so can anyone say for sure if a local bar will be able to air the game?

Prior to this Saturday, which football games haven't been live?

As for basketball, you are making sh** up:

2006-07 (year before BTN): four home games had ZERO TV/Internet. One away game had zero TV/Internet. TWO Big Ten games were tape-delayed!!!

2004-05: Four home games not televised/streamed. BIG TEN GAME against Northwestern NO TV or Internet.

-per Gophersports.com.

We've never had it so good.

Can anybody officially confirm that this game will be available live nationally on DirecTV?

I keep seeing people say that it will be, but I don't see it listed anywhere.

Maximus - for the years you stated, you're right - but I'm going back years ago when all games were on TV, not online BS. Why have we regressed? The online only (unless you have Altitude Network) football game next week is just the start of things to come with the BTN - just look at basketball....

Which of these games are not going to be on television?

Regressed???? Have you heard of Hulu, Netflix, IPads, IPhones, ESPN3.....television as you know it will be gone very, very soon.

No - I've not seen or heard of any of those providers .. :) I guess that I just enjoy DirecTV HD for sports for video and audio. Netflicks for movies is good but most online stuff is still not as good as DirecTV for video quality and for sure audio quality for sports.

Connect your iPhone, iPad, or laptop computer to your television ... I just tested this out with the Michigan State / Western Michigan, which is on BTN2Go right now. It's not difficult and works just fine, if you want to see the game on a TV rather than a computer screen.
