New logo nice

Last time I checked there were going to be 12 teams in the Big 10, Delaney needs to learn how to count. People are going to start comparing the B10's academic standards to that of the SEC if we can't even count the number of teams in our conference. As far as the logo and the division names - lame.

That whole critique is lame. The Big Ten is a brand. Its not simply a total from counting off an abacus. You don't toss a quality brand out the window. Especially when your natural option (Big 12) is already taken. And even if the Big Ten and Big XII simply swapped, that means we're taking on their brand identity. The other option is some brand new name. So that's a new brand from scratch over keeping an existing high quality brand. Lots of potential fail there (think of all the rebranding you've seen major companies do and how often it simply sucks). It may seem dumb, but the other options were much less attractive.

You better tell the Pac 12 how they are doomed to fail.

Rereading my other response I see I did a poor job wording it. I think going to Big 12 would have been a great idea and not much of a rebrand IF there wasn't already a Big 12. Since there is, its a no go. Just like I think the Pac-12 is a natural move for them and easily understood by the general public.

Looks like Jim Delaney's grandson's school project was the winner of the new logo contest!

The logo was designed by a Wisconsin alum, probably a buddy to Maturi.

Seems like a fairly good tally to me - since when did Indiana and Northwestern ever count?

That font is the same one I saw today on a wanted poster over at the post office.

Painfully generic.

This is what happens when you rely on focus groups in Indianapolis. I'm surprised they didn't sneak in the image of a donut.

I must have been conditioned by the old logo, but I literally stared at this for 5 minutes or so trying to find the 2 to go with the 1. It never occurred to me that the "G" was a "0". I had to follow the link to read what the logo was supposed to be.

I guess I'm just echoing the earlier comments that if you can't figure out what the design is supposed to be, it's probably not very good.

Clearly, they used Black and Blue as in bruised and battered. With the BigTen being associated with tough guys. I think the Blue could have been a little darker, - it's too "powder" blue to me.

Totally agree. I think the logo is average to below average, but what stands out to me is how flaccid the blue is.
