Per Glen Crevier, Assistant Managaing Editor/Sports, Minneapolis Star Tribune who just tweeted:

Beat change at Strib:Baseball writer Joe Christensen will cover Gophers football in 2013. Phil Miller moves from Gophers to Twins

Joe's Twitter handle is: @JoeCStrib

Hasn't anybody addressed the elephant in the room? What does Christensen think of this year's Texas A&M squad?

beat me to it, lady.

Joe C's a-ight. Phil is solid though, and will be missed.

Yes, thanks to Phil for a good job the past couple of years! I've already been getting a lot of messages that Joe is really good. Excited for his coverage.

Seems like a strange time to make this change though...

The Strib is gonna try to repair some of the damage that SoupCan has inflicted with the common folk???

This makes more sense, Joe just tweeted this:

Change becomes official in 2013. For now, I'm still covering #MNTwins offseason news. But thanks again for all the kind words.

So do I unfollow him for the next two months now? ;)

I, as your official favorite friendly stalker, hereby request you sniff his trail like a bloodhound, and keep us filled in on his progress. We, or should I say I, look forward to this saga of the GopherHole version of the TV soap opera... As the GopherHole Gossips. :)

Hey, GL...How is that for a NEW Forum... As the GopherHole Gossips.

Can we elevate the language here to a level appropriate for a college site? Do we really need puerile name-calling?

No. It is too much fun being childish and immature. Remember, my Dad could have beaten up your Dad.

Joe is a solid dude and does a good job. La Velle is really the man though. We would have been in for a treat if it was him.

I have been reading college boards, including the Stanford board, for over a decade and don't recall anyone ever using the word "puerile" before. Obviously, your standards run too high.:)

I've always enjoyed Joe's reporting on the Twins. Assuming he knows college football, I think he will do a great job on the Gophers. Phil was very good here IMO.

I find the word to be increasingly appropriate.

I've always been more of a Lavelle E Neal fan than Joe C and Phil has been great. Hopefully you're all correct that Joe will do a good job with the Gophers.

Is this a promotion for one of them, or kind of a cross training thing to round out their skills/resume? They are both good. Phil's going to be traveling a lot more now.

^ I can only guess that the travel has something, if just a small bit, to do with it. Joe C. remarked on Twitter that the move allows him to spend more time with his family, whereas Miller originally came to Minnesota for that same beat with the Twins.

I really liked Miller's Gopher football reporting, even more than his Twins beat stuff when he was with the PiPress. He found some good features each week to mix in with the game stories. He's solid either way. Joe C. has been really good with the Twins beat, IMHO.
