New FBS Overtime Rules Changes

I didn't read the changes but I hope they are no kicking plays whatsover in over time. Gophers may have gone from a down year to a good season with those changes in 2020

Off hand without hearing too much discussion. I prefer that they start overtime at midfield. The fake injuries deal is going to be a problem no matter what you do. You might be able to curb it a bit, but never completely. As to keeping the coaches off the field to dispute the calls, many teams better have a big guy near their coach to refrain them from doing that.

Yeah the fake injury thing seems like enforcement would be more of a problem than good.

The whole player saftey like seems really wonky if at the same time "We're gonna punish you after the fact if we decide you weren't hurt enough to lay down.... you just pickup your severed limb and hobble off the field so we can keep playing!"

Yeah, I mean how many times have you seen a player be slow to get up, so they stop play for an injury as the player is getting up? While I think there is an argument that if you are that slow to get up you should be checked out just top make sure, sometimes its just simply getting the wind knocked out of you and that can take a moment of struggling to breath before you can get up.

Dorking with OT is dumb ... OT isn't super common... and OT is tons of fun.

I feel like 'but there will be fewer plays' arguments are just just barely technically true ... but really have no impact on the overall number of plays in a season.

And then we want more playoffs....
If they actually wanted fewer plays they would just change the rule so incomplete passes clock stoppage functions the same as going out of bounds.
If the clock started back up at the ready for play after incompletions outside the last minute of a half...they could reduce snaps a great deal.
