Apparently, he really enjoyed his visit to the spring game.

Has an offer from Nebraska and Iowa. Any time we beat those two schools out for a recruit, it's great news. Of course, he's not actually "committed" until signing day so we'll see.

That happens with every verbal commit everywhere, so I just wait and see, like you said.

Remember the words of Haugy#33..."A verbal committment is not worth the paper it's not written on."

Let's just hope Pantherhawk doesn't get to him on Twitter to alert him that it gets cold here.

pantherhawk has burned so many bridges bad mouthing everything Gophers that no one anywhere believes him anymore. He is just an internet whore.

You're right. The Gopher Report got a little confused:

The Gopher Report ‏@TheGopherReport
Dimonic McKinzy pronounces his name the same as Dominic #Gophers

The Gopher Report ‏@TheGopherReport
McKinzy told me he spells his name Dimonic. Sorry for the confusion.

The Gopher Report ‏@TheGopherReport
McKinzy's Rivals profile says "Dimonic." I called him that and he corrected me with "Dominic." Not sure if it's a typo or different spelling

The Gopher Report ‏@TheGopherReport
Dominic works with the same QB coach in KC that Shortell work with, Skip Stitzell.

The Gopher Report ‏@TheGopherReport
McKinzy wanted to attend #Gophers Junior Day, but his dad's car broke down.

Q&A with McKinzy from two months ago http://go4report.wix.com/home#!football/c66t … about a third of the way down the page

Dominic McKinzy commits! #Gophers

Would guess that at 5'11" he is being recruited as an athlete or DB as opposed to a QB. As someone else pointed out though definitely nice to get a verbal with legit offers from other Big Ten Schools. Now hopefully he stays committed.

He's being recruited as a QB. A very solid commit, given that he drove up with his dad from Kansas City.

Awesome to see this. I'm sure Max played at least a small role in securing the commitment. It's another testament to what a stand-up family the Shortells are.

Chris Monter interviewed Dimonic a bit ago - we'll have the full interview up shortly about the big commitment.

Guess it is not unheard of but very few guys that size playing QB in the Big Ten. No matter what though it's a quality commitment and always good to get those early ones even if there is a long way to go till signing day.

This is a fantastic get if it sticks. Welcome Dimonic!

Ski-U-Mah and Go Gophers!

5'11" doesn't matter. Denard Robinson is 5'11", Kain Colter is 6', Dan Persa 5'11".

Awesome! I like that Kill is able to get in a lot of kids early in the process before they have a chance to blow up on the recruiting front
