New Coach to be in MN Tomorrow, Press Conference on Monday

I bet the press conference is going to be the Gophers announcing they did not receive an invite to the Insight Bowl this year. After the past couple years, not being the star attraction in that sh&# show would be newsworthy.

Iceland12: my theory... one source info. good enough for Twitter, and GH... and to a degree, speculation on 1500... need more than one for anything on ch. 5/1500espn.com, especially if it's of the magnitude of saying who the hire is... always rather be right than first... hearing a name from one person, but so far, striking out on another source.
 


You can rip twinsfan if you want, but search his posts. He always has posted press conference notes. Seems awfully plugged in to me.

I suspect Edsall is the name you're hearing. I'm wondering how much worry there is that he will be overcome with emotion when UConn wins this game and change his mind?
 

Timeline seems like a stretch for Edsall. Would he leave Tampa for Connecticut and still make it to Minnesota tomorrow? I guess the more likely scenario would be for Edsall to address his team tomorrow at the hotel in Tampa (assuming they stay the night) and then hop a plane from Tampa to Minneapolis?

Let me preface with this: I don't know if it's him... but if it is, they are back in Conn. by 3 a.m... coaches sleep for just a few hours... address the team at noon... fly here mid-afternoon... meet people tomorrow night at a dinner, press conf. Mon. a.m... so, very possible.

You haven't been here long, but take it from someone who has been...ATTF is not a random rable rousing dbag. He could certainly be wrong, but if he's passing it along then he thinks its solid enough to share. Calm the eff down.
 

I don't... but he just doesn't pass my sniff test... he could wait another year and have the Georgia job, or the Clemson job, or some other top-15 job... he is well compensated in Boise, and can get to a BCS game (with a perfect year)... his QB, Moore, is a Sr. next year... guessing they will be really, really good... would he really come to MN for $3 mil.? He can wait, and earn that much.

Have to disagree with you here. Maturi cannot think on his own? Edsall would be a top candidate for any opening in the land, IF the school could land him. I was not always an Edsall fan but we are talking about a championship caliber guy in my opinion. When UCONN joined DI, they didn't just join it, they instantly competed for conference titles.
 

well if the other rumor was that he's telling his team in the AM, then the flight wont be scheduled til then.

When I was a kid, we didn't have any of this Twitter and Mybook and Faceplace. We couldn't get any news on our favorite sports team the next day. Hell, sometimes we couldn't get it in the same month. I can remember one year we didn't even know who was on the team until the season was over because the typewriter over at University broke and no one knew how to fix it so they never got the roster printed and they had to chisel the names into the concrete outside the stadium and you'd have to run out between plays to see who ran the ball or made the tackle.

And you know what? That's the way we liked it!!!!!

no idea, assuming itll be scheduled as late as possible so as to avoid snoops like us, though it probably will be inevitably found.

afaik the flight will leave (boise :3) whenever the hell the coach is ready to leave.
