Richard and New Mexico at #85 played a nice non conference schedule. 9 and 3 to begin the season.
But they messed up really, really badly losing to #238 New Mexico St at HOME.
That's gonna leave a mark for a long time.
Lost to #28 St Johns and #50 ASU
Beat #21 UCLA and #95 USC and #69 VCU
Gotta probably beat San Diego St and all others to get into the Top 50.
Three top 50 non conference games plus two 50 to 100 opponents in 11 non conference games. Plus, 1 and 0 in conference.
In the NET ... Mountain West teams ahead of New Mexico are:
29 Utah State
42 San Diego St
52. Boise St
57 Nevada
85 New Mexico
New Mexico plays all four of them Feb 1 or sooner.
IFS and buts...where would they be if they just beat New Mexico St?
They had ASU on the ropes but ASU was unconscious, playing really well to close it out 85-82.
