Nebraska Peeps Have Concerns

Despite the 4 stars they’re able to recruit, Nebraska didn’t even have a player drafted last year. It was the first time they’ve been shut out since 1962. In the 2018 draft, only QB Tanner Lee got drafted (6th round). He made the Jaguars practice squad, was promoted to the active roster for one game, and waived in training camp the following season.

In the last year NE has had two football players accused of multiple sexual assaults who were removed from school for only 2 years and one player indicted for child porn before he came on campus finally was kicked off of the team.
That puts their recruiting in a different light.
And as mentioned above and multiple times before the ranking of teams recruiting is determined by completely invalid numbers.
The recruiting rank and coaching skills are really determined only by the product on the field of play over the season.
Last year in the West it was WI and MN.
Next year is yet to be determined.

The Big Ten West is for real.
Wisconsin lost by 1 to Oregon, Iowa topped #24 USC easily, and we beat #12 Auburn convincingly, so I see your point. Overall, the B10 did well, despite Michigan getting pushed around by Alabama.

The game with them next year will be a chance to Indy for us, with a victory. They will be 500 at best and looking to ruin our day.

If they don't start winning very soon, expect them to start sliding in the recruiting wars. They are getting their 4-5 stars from what they did several years ago. I am very interested in seeing how the Gophers recruit this year - I think we start trending upwards!
Will they decline though?

Some places just seem to croot high profile players ... and just don't quit regardless of W&L outcomes.

Nebraska continues to get top players because the recruits still see the high side. Eventually they will stop coming there if the program declines for several years and they lose faith. I expect them to bounce back but maybe not quite as much as they think or hope.

Nebraska's 2019 season, game-by-game:

SOUTH ALABAMA — W, 35-21

@ Colorado — L, 34-31

NORTHERN ILLINOIS — W, 44-8

@ Illinois — W, 42-38

OHIO STATE — L, 48-7

NORTHWESTERN — W, 13-10

@ Minnesota — L, 34-7

INDIANA — L, 38-31

@ Purdue — L, 31-27

WISCONSIN — L, 37-21

@ Maryland — W, 54-7

IOWA — L, 27-24

-----------------------------

TOTAL — 5-7

-----------------------------

In summary:

BLOWOUT LOSSES — 2 (Ohio State, Minnesota; two very tough opponents)
CLOSE LOSSES — 4 (Colorado, Indiana, Purdue, Iowa; Indiana and Iowa are quality opponents)

The Huskers in 2019 remind me a little bit of the Gophers in 2017. Nebraska might be closer to being respectable than we sometimes think they are.

I'm not sure what the high side is.... Neb hasn't been relevant much at all anytime these kids could watch TV even.

I think they are surviving on a combo platter of history and Scott Frost's one great season at UCF. I'd say if they don't make a bowl game next year that could start a downward spiral as the UCF cred is fading fast.

PJ’s recruits are mostly mid to high 3 stars athletically, but 4 stars across the board in factors not considers by 247: character, determination to succeed, intelligence, culture buy-in, team orientation, and a demonstrated desire to be at Minnesota. I’ll take that any day over a disparate group of half-interested 4 stars who think (mistakenly) that college is a short-term playpen to be endured until they jump to the NFL.
